Megan Coilover adjustment.. stuck, any ideas?

Ok, i search but no one seemed to have such a hard time as me
A have a set of megan coilovers (since 05) I took the fronts off to adjust the ride height. I can't seem to loosen the lower mount/body to f*ck with the ride hight... the lock ring was no problem but the lower body..... no matter what i did she wouldn't budge...
-stuck it in a vice, hammered it here and there. clamped down on the top of the threaded section and got pry bar through the bolt holes all my strength + hammering .. no luck.
they are rust free, the threads are clear and i had them soaking in wd40 for a while. im running out of ideas.

there is a big sticker that says " don't heat" i was going to bust of the torch but thought i would get some ideas before i go crazy. has anyone ever encountered this problem...? what did u do?
think i can heat it just a little bit?

did you try chizzle/flat head and a hammer that always works use some wd 40 also

3 years in NYC? Yea, they're rusted together, I doubt you're going to ever be able to move them. It'd probably gall the threads right off if you could apply enough torque, but still wouldn't "break free."

Best bet is a lot of PB Blaster and maybe a little heat(a little, the shocks are pressurized).

try harder, most likely its just stuck from not being messed with much. oh and if you want to sell those coils let me know i need so badddd. or if you know anyone that does have any that would be cool too

all the rings spin perfect.. its the body thats stuck..

have u heated shocks before? ill let is soak in wd40 over night.. no rust they are very clean.. not daily driven, (12k miles on the shocks) but i don't drive on most roads here..

Heated meaning maybe 150 deg F just to expand things, not leaving a torch on it for 10 mins trying to make it blow up. I live in TX, nothing really rusts here so never had to do that.

ok screw the torch. I have a heater in my garage, the multi-fuel "torpedo" type. ill warm it up in front of that for a bit, get it nice a hot and see if that will loosen it up.

anyone ever heat up a shock before? or a coilover? whats the worst that can happen?

update for the record books...

-heated it up, super hot but even all around the mount. it popped loose slowly with extreme pressure and hammering at the same time (needed two ppl) nice and loose now threads are perfect.

-pull the other side apart and the damn lock ring on the bottom is stuck... (i have no luck) did everything i could didnt move..
I'm going to bolt the coilover back up and see if i can snap it free when it bolted down to the car... im so ready to just cut it off...

Its that badly stuck on there. If you do decide to cut it off, make sure that Megan sells lock rings individually. Good luck

I have the Exact same problem, Ive beat the shit out of that thing. I guess im going to try heating it up now thanks for the advice lol.

ok long story short......... need a new drivers side coilover

i FU*KEd this sh*t up.... bad.. then i melted it with a tourch still locked solid..

the lower adjustment was LOCKed harder then anything i have ever seen in my life.
-does anyone know if these coilovers and rebuildable?

im just going to bump this and say that my megan fronts are EXACTLY the same. drivers side front is stuck at the body, passenger lock ring is stuck.

a buddy of mine with s13 megans had the same problem.


possibly a megan issue? as most reports ive read have had this problem notably with megan coilovers.

It's probably just due to the cheap type of paint they use, and then the steel in the coilovers is welding.

Really it would probably be a good idea to coat them with anti-seize out of the box...that goes for any coilover.

go buy stance and anti seize them.

my rears are perfect just the way i like them, and i have z32 uprights and already have the conversion perches.
