blown turbo

whats up every one i am new to this site. my name is kyle and i have an 89 two tone coupe with a red top sr. so i just bought a new garret gt2871r .64ar and it is now blown. i drove my car for four days. less the 100 miles. people are telling my i needed to put on a oil resrictor. so i have done alot of research and people say yes and no. even though i didnt put one on is this the reason my turbo blew. thanks kyle

yes it could be the reason your oil seal went bad.

Just to clarify there is NOT a restictor Built into the turbo.
the turbo feed line port is a flared fitting for the oil line its not a restrictor.
The restrictor is normally (stock) the bajo bolt for the stock lines, Do not use T25 banjo bolt, but an A/M restrictor is normally on the block then connects to the feed line.

Circuit sport lines are fine im using them for mine, as far as the resrictor size (cant remember) Its been covered multiple times so Search.

Typhoon. Just get the GT Restrictor from ATPturbo.com... I have ran like 6 months without a restrictor and no big problems, but since then I have used one I think that is definitely the way to go. Good luck...

Umm...even without a damn restrictor, it shouldnt fucking blow in less than 100 miles because of it. I've run my first GT2871 on stock T25 lines for over 2 yrs before Ive had some ill-effect from it. And thats with me running 18 psi all day everyday and logged in atleast 40k miles.

If its blown, sucks, cuz theyre not rebuildable, your pretty much gonna be buying a new turbo. Buy a new CHRA and swap over the housings and hardware from your old turbo. Will cost you atleast $650 for a new CHRA from Garrett.
