Like he said, It all depends on what your going for. If your going for a good handling car...new springs and some shocks/struts. If your going for power...replace/uprade your engines breathing with an intake, header, cat-back exhaust. If you wanna look good, well....thats up to you, drop it, get some wheels/tires, tint the windows, slap on a body kit, etc... Let us know your route and I'm sure the ideas will come pouring in.

nawssssssssssssssss... instant power to be those car that are really fast and furious.. but make sure you got 2 bottles.. hahaha..

but seriously, for power do the mods that dousan mentioned. those are some of the most basic mods.. however, everything on dousan's list besides the cams will gain you 10hp at most if you're lucky.. cams are a different story.. cams are one of the main ingredients in giving n/a cars lots of power.. depends on what degree duration and how much lift you choose. if you were lookin at a fast car to street race, 240 is the wrong car for you. iirc, the 240 ran mid 16s stock. there are better cars for that.. can you say light *** civic hatches or awd DSMs!! 240 is more of a suspension car for road racing so unless the roads get twisty and curvy, most of those cars that are fast and furious will eat your for lunch.. UNLESS.. you get turbo!! but nitrious oxide should be in your budget for quick bang for your buck power to kill decent cars ocasionally.

watch out though.. as weird and unlikely as it sounds.. there are ugly *** cars out there packing heat.. so dont assume every ugly rice car is a slow pos. i saw this baby blue civic hatch back with ugly kit and stickers all around.. but it had an intercooler up front.. its either very fast and packin a turbo.. or it could be an aero speed front mount intercooler wannabe intake thing.. just be careful who you mess with..

off the top of my head a car that doesnt take much is an old talon TSI- while they are shoddy the AWD hooks up quick and basically minor mods plus raising the stock boost make it a quick car.

Well for straightline racing bang for buck it's hard to beat good old American iron... older LT1 powered Camaro Z28 or Firebird Formula, or a Fox Mustang LX 5.0 (stripper notchback coupes are about as light as a 240SX)

either will give you a lot of power reliably for not a lot of money, as well as a better chassis setup for drag than any modern import (read: live axle). Nimble handling is not part of the package however...

i can vouch for the lack of handling in the Fox. I bought one for horsepower, and i am selling it because it can't turn. They are cheap speed, straight line, but just aobut every part conected to the wheels will have to be replaced if you want to make it handle. I am talking $3K in handling.

I used to have a 93 Civic Hatchback before I got my S13. Theye is a ton of parts availible and you can swap Honda motors for about half the price of a 240 swap. If you are keeping the 240 for sure, NOS (etc) is considerable hp and the push of a button or at wot depending on the setup you choose. I'm running I/H/E with suspension and brake upgrades and IMO its already an all around great contender for street drag/cornering. For the most part I have no trouble beating (or hanging) with most bpu'd Honda's with the same mods.

You forgot about:
Quote:
Any shock absorber of the same type and mounting as original
I.E. AGX's or Koni's (EDIT: Almost forgot about GABs... mmmm.... GAB shocks...). The ultimate would be something like Koni's rebuilt to insane rebound dampening levels, so when the car squats/ tilts, it stays like that for a bit. Instant lowering after a slalom or so AGX's would be more than enough for someone just getting into AutoX though.
