Alright i have a turbo timer for my car and i need to know which wire, and the color of the wire on the ecu is for rpm's? I know i don't have the same ecu as the KA motor but i figure (hope) that nissan uses the same color scheme for all there ecu's. Also doe's anyone have a good place to mount a turbo timer, i'm thinking of taking out the area under the cd player(so i can put a boost controller there too), is there a kit for this, any idea's are welcome.

Blitz sells a DIN holder that can hold a small gauge and 2 1/4 DIN size meters like your boost controller. You can get it from alamoautosports.com. You shouldnt need to tap into the ECU for the turbo timer. Read the install instructions.

yeah i seen the blitz one i think i'll get that one. As for the rpm wire, it say's in the instructions to connect to the rpm ecu wire (it then say's check it's diagram's for which wire, of course my car isn't one of the examples). Now that i think about it could'nt i skip this part, why do's it need to tap into my rpm wire, it should idle on it's own...maybe i'll skip it and see what happens.

no it's not in there the diagrams only show the popular US turbo car under nissan has both 300zx's. I did'nt buy a harness for my car so no real car specific instructions. I even stared at the japanese instructions for a while <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I'm downloading a service manual for ca18det s-13 right now so it should answer my questions. Thanks for the help.

the ca18det is awesome...i haven't been in a sr20det car to compare but i can say that it is a great all around engine...you could probably pick one up cheaper then a sr20det so it might be worth it for some people....i just got it so i'm starting to do mods now, should have my intake soon and will order a boost controller with my next paycheck, exhaust will be next after that! on that note doe's anyone know if an american spec catback exhaust would fit my british spec, the americain ones are alot cheaper and better looking. Anyway about the engine it's smooth and has great torque to it, i also hear it has better low torque then a sr20 due to it's design, anyway thats my take on the engine.

around most boards i've been at. a lot of ppl have said the CA18 is a better engine than the SR20. it's disputable, but i think it's a sweet engine as well.
the biggest drawback was it costed Nissan too much to make so they just stopped making them. i believe the torque would prolly be better on the CA18.. it's a smaller engine.. but wif proper tuning it works out better than an SR20 (so i've heard. i'd like to check out a CA18 some time, but no one in Calgary has them) |
