Some performance upgade questions
Well here goes
I have a few questions for the experts out here, I just got a new job and will make gazillions of dollars this summer and need to ask about things to waste my money on souping up my already hot car. First off: -Is there a fuel computer that will help me to SAVE gas mileage (i shouldnt worry about it since i can afford it but I do...) Something that I can adjust the ignition and fuel with to have like an economy, stock and sport mode kind of thing? -I know this has been covered before, but what does the sr20det give you, like 200 horses? With the same amount of money what can you do to the KA24DE and why do lots of people seem to prefer the SR powerplant? -how much can you add to the engine, power wise before you start to worry about compensating, like a better rad or strengthening the frame? Can someone convince me that the car is fine the way it is and that I dont need to fix it up?? Cause when i bought it I swore I wouldnt do anything to it, but lately ive been tempted...

For gas mileage do a tune-up/keep up with regular maintenance (you check your tire pressure all the time, right?)
You can spend money on a KA- you'll always want to do the SR eventually though- sorta how life is. It's a fairly expensive swap for what you get- horsepower->dollar ratio not as good as other cars. But for the exclusivity I guess it's worth it. Your car is fine- don't listen to all the ideas floating on here if it doesn't interest you. Nothing wrong with stock. edit: you're right- cars are a good way to waste money- you'll be lucky to sell the car and break even on what you spent on parts. But since you'll be making gazillions............. if you think you might enjoy tinkering with your car, it can be alot of fun! |

#1 dont listen to neo. Neo apparently doesnt know what hes talking about. Most of these questions can be answered with the search button but im not gonna yell about that like others do. The first thing I would do is work on my suspension. The stock suspension on a 240 usually isnt up to the extra power a new engine and turbo will give ( I know this is the boat im in right now seeing as how I just turboed my KA) . Its an ongoing debate over which engine is better the KA or SR. In the end it comes down to prefrence. with equal cost they make equal power (even though at 5 PSi my KA lays down more power than a stock sr

Ooh, someone needs a chill pill.
Setting a great example there Jeff. When will some of you guys grow some brains and THINK? THINK about the topic question and answer it- is that so hard? DarkRaptor42 wanted to escalate / flame - I responded - if he can dish it out then he should be able to take it. Jeff you feel more like flaming than giving your opinion and answering the question? How does your reply best serve this thread- answer: it doesn't........just instigates "more of the same". {shakes head} |

Do you wanna set an example? Keep talking down to senior members, and moderators, and ESPECIALLY me. I'll ban you with a swiftness. Is that a good enough example to set? -Jeff Edit: Neo.. take this to private message if you have a problem with what I've said.

Like I said- Jeff STFU already- you're way out of line "for a mod".
I think you should've taken it up in PM in the firstplace ![]() ![]() ![]() "Treat others how you want to be treated" and when you dish it out and get it thrown back in your face- stop whining like a little kid. ![]() |

Twitchy -
1) Do a basic tune-up... and "breather mods" will also decrease fuel consumption. Breather mods are Intake, Header, Exhaust. Also, ignition systems will help you. The goal for good mileage is to have as efficient an engine as possible. If the engine doesn't have to work hard to breath, and gets complete combustion of all fuel in the chamber, you'll gain mileage. After efficiency and combustion, dead weight hinders your gas mileage. A lightweight flywheel and driveshaft combo will give awesome fuel consumption benefits. A pully kit falls in that category also. Finally.. lightweight rims will increase your mileage. But.. with the added power, you need to lay off the throttle to keep that mileage. 2) Breather mods, ignition, JWT ECU, and cams can put you at the 200rwhp mark. When I say exhaust.. I mean a 2.5" straight through exhaust... not a cat-back with a bottle-neck up before the cat. Also... cams make your engine more efficient. See above. Lighten up the rotational objects (Pulleys, flywheel, and driveshaft). The downside.. costs about as much as a swap or turbo kit for the KA. 3) Only things you gotta compensate on are: Brakes (for safety) and tires (for putting power to the ground). -Jeff
