KA clutch problems

ok heres my problem when i am trying to put my car in first gear it will not let me unless i jam it in there and yea my peadle is all the way down too? i just blead my clutch and it did not make any difference. i know that my throwout bearing is going out but would that meke it do that??? anybody know??

is it just first gear or all?
if you pump the clutch does it go in easieR???



if you pump it and it goes easier and this happens in all gears then:

check your clutch master cylinder (against firewall connects to clutch pedal) and your slave clutch cylinder (on tranny passenger side)


i guess the Clutch slave is dying/dead
replace both at same time. clutch slave is like 15 bucks. master is around 60 or less (i forget)

also be sure to remove your dampening box (goes from Clutch MC to hardline to dampening box to slave clutch)

bend the hardline to clutch slave directly.

good luck

easy job. takes 2 people and about 1 hour of work. really easy kids stuff.

yea i just replaced the slave 5 months ago and replaced the master with a 300zx one so yea. i just messed around with the clutch pedal where it goes intop the master and i seems to be fine for now.. i do need a new throwout bearing but i am just gonna wait untill i get my ca in .... thanks

If I am going to do it myself as well, do you HAVE to replace the dampening box?...or it is just suggested.....

I'm having the same problem, and it is obviously the master and slave cylinders...

Any other suggestions by the way, I don't want to f### anything up .. lol

NOT replace...REMOVE

yes you MUST
that is unless you like bleeding the system for 3 hours
no box-bleeds in 5 mins

(no exagerration on the 3 hour bleeding!!!!! )

Gotcha!!!!!

So REMOVE dampening box...bleed system....replace Master and Slave cylinder.......connect hardline directly from Master to Slave....refill fluid....

I heard Dot 3 was good for clutch fluid....

Dood, am I on the right track, or should I get a F***ing clue?..haha

haha..your right on the dot
replace your cylinders
remove dampner box

i suggest getting the tool for bending hardlines (brake hardlines/clutch hardlines). this makes the job easier
you bend the hardline that goes from the MC to the hose that goes to the slave cylinder. just bend it in there and then you can connect the hose from the slave cylinder directly to the hardline of the clutch MC

its easily understood if you look at it.

bleeding fromt hen and forever is a cinch.

dot 3 or dot 4. i use 3, but i'll probably go 4 next time around.

nah but did you compeletely remove yoru slave cylinder/mc?

u just bled it when it was already having no problems just to bleed it

when you completely disconnect it and drain all the fluid, the air gets caught in the dampner box.

read the other thread on it recently

Thanks alot guys...i got quoted the other day from Nissan that it would cost 330.....forget that, i knew you guys would make it understandable...

one last thing....after draining the fluid....getting the two cylinders back in place...... once i fill it up again, do i pump to make sure all air is out of the lines?..any tricks you guys know on that?.

you need 2 people
one in driver seat pumping and watching MC, it will drain fast. go slow and take your time. dont pump fast and hard, or you'll get more little bubbles. slow and smooth....

its an easy job. expect it to take no more then 3 hours. its really simple and if you work slow, you'll do fine

Dousan36, quick question....through the firewall that connects the master cylinder to the clutch pedal......whats the best way to disconnect....i see a stud/screw that goes through firewall...and also a pin connector* thing, so which one should i disconnect...

also, am i looking at any fluid spraying?.(when disconnecting clutch and master, or master and hardline)

Okay, im working on master/slave.............when im bleeding system....how do i bleed the slave cylinder.....there is a rubber end with a silver tip sticking out, then a small copper connector thing, and then a female adapter on the slave to screw in.....how do i bleed once new master is in, and lines are all reconnected....???
please help.....

there's a bleed screw
faces you when you look at it, side of the slave cylinder towards front of car. looks same as brake bleeder screw.
