Seems like a wheel bearing to you?
I think I have a bad wheel bearing... here are my symptoms:
1) Between 38 and 48 mph, the inside of my car sounds like an 18-wheeler on the interstate (WHIIIIIIRRRRRR) 2) Recently I noticed when I brake lightly (like coming to a stop sign), when I get to about 20mph the car rumbles and something inside my dash starts to rattle.... 3) Today I was inspecting my tires, and decided to shake on my front wheels, and my driver's side kinda clicked and I felt a small amount of movement... Now, when I got my wheels last spring I noticed the front tires are noisy (BFG G-Force T/A) by nature... and when I put my coilovers on (Still cambering hardcore ATM) the front end got like twice as noisy. Sounds like a wheel bearing to you guys? My S14 has like 170k on the chassis, so it wouldn't surprise me. Also, is it true I have to buy the whole hub? If so, I'll get Nismo extended studs while I'm at it.

jack the car up, if there's even a hint of play or noise when pressing against the wheel both side to side or fore/aft, the bearing is gone.

Mehhhhh.... Fuckit.
lol jk. As soon as I can afford it. I only drive back and forth to work, maybe 2 miles each way, and its all under 50mph. Insurance > Wheel bearing.

Sound doesn't change when turning. I'm thinking noisy ass tires with awkward alignment specs due to slamming the front end without adj. TC rods, excessive camber, etc.

tire noise does not usually come from bad alignment unless its major. most likely its ur bearings. i drove on a bad one for months. once it was changed, i was in total bliss

It does pull pretty hard, and I have bad TC rod bushings.

Also check to make sure all your suspension bolts are tight
I'd had similar symptoms due to loose hardware I had a bad rear driver side bearing once on my S13 rear stepped out and pulled sideways lifted the rear and the wheel wobbled |

Yups, jack the car up and push top of the wheel and bottom, see if it wiggles. If it does, its definitely the bearing. If you push on the sides and it wiggles, it could also be a bad tie rod end.

Make sure the coil sleeve is tight (the bottom locknut to the body). That can cause a movement in the wheel. Spin your wheel to see if there is any noise or feels like a pepper grinder when spun. Noise usually occurs when turning but not always the case.

Pushed on wheel last night while putting o2 sensor in. I thought I had left to right movement, but it just turns out the other wheel was moving in sync... so no movement at all. Its just shitty alignment paired with excessively noisy tires.
For reference, don't DD on BFG G-Force T/A KDW tires...

just press out your bearings from the hub and replace with new bearing. go to any mechanic shop and more then likely they will press them out for a couple of bucks or even free

Also, has anyone had trouble with the center carrier bearing on their 240s? When I'm at 80mph, the shifter vibrates A LOT and jumps around. Its funny... but it gets on my nerves.

you probably have bad motor mounts and or tranny mount. thats probably the reason for the shifter movement. I had this same problem, new motormounts fixed it.
It sounds like you have bad tension rod bushings. Check all the hardware, make sure everything is tight. sometimes the nuts inside the frame break off and you cant tighten them without cutting into the frame. Once again i had this same problem and it was the tension rod mounts were as loose as a goose, all the same stuff was happening. It would make noise turning, when breaking it would make my wheels shake like crazy, and it was hell on my front tires. Im betting this is your problem too.

I just had to replace my inner tie rod. same simptums.
The wheel wouldnt move up and down but would move left and right 1/4". When in reverse and turning, the wheel would rub on the coil. But no other time. |

I'm looking into this as well. I need to replace my boots on my steering rack before it gets filthy and wears my seal out and starts to leak.
