Strange click

Um... I just noticed a strange clicking sound starting on my car. It sounds like its in the steering/suspension/wheel system on my S14. Its not loud, and its not a constant click. Doesn't change with engine speed, but changes with speed. Sometimes I hear it while going straight, sometimes I don't. Also, it may just be in my mind, but it clicked more consistantly while turning right. I haven't really made any left hand turns since I first heard the sound.

But as before, there's no play in my rim that would suggest a bad bearing... but I think the whining at 40mph, whining when decelerating at about 20mph, and this click might all be pointing to a wheel bearing. Do you guys agree, or have any other ideas?

Ckeck for bad wheel bearing, lift off ground and and check for play in the hub.

Any rocks in your tires? Zip Ties Hitting the tires?

My car is unusual for Zilvia; it isn't yet held together with zip ties, lol. I thought maybe a rock... but it would have to be a big rock, cause I dunno if you've seen the tread pattern on the BFG G-Force KDWs, but yeah a rock isn't likely. I did, however, notice what looked like a nail embedded in my tread too far for me to get with pliers. Doesn't leak air, so I didn't fuck with it.

None of my ideas on what could be wrong produced fruitful information. My noise hasn't gotten worse, but it hasn't gone away.

I do, however, have some new info now that I have a quiet exhaust.

My clicking seems to be while cruising or accelerating slowly, or decelerating slowly. When I accelerate moderate to WOT, I don't hear it. When I apply the brakes, I don't hear it.

Therefore, I think I could possibly be on the verge of needing to replace my center carrier or have a bad U-Joint in my driveshaft. If this is the case, I'm going 1 piece aluminum.

I was thinking a relay or circuit breaker, but i can't think of any where you wouldn't notice the electrical problems to go along with it.

My car does the same thing, I think you're right about the driveshaft... it's either that or the axles

Any ideas how I could troubleshoot the axles and/or driveshaft without having to remove them?

Jacked the front up last night, and I don't get any clicks with the wheel rotating. I do, however, have a small bit of play in my driver's side tie rod end. At least, that's what I think. I get about 1/16th of an inch or so left to right play, and it does make a small thud type sound, but not like what I hear rolling. Also, I wouldn't think a worn tie rod would click in relation to wheel speed, but rather when I hit bumps.
