KA24DET vs. SR20DET
So I'm thinking about dropping a newer engine in my 1990 240SX and I personally want to go with SR20DET, but my a lot of my friends with 240's tell me i should go with KA24DET.
Im looking for an engine that I can drift with as well as use for daily driving. Anyone has suggestions??? ![]() |

Take it easy on the kid!
The difference between the ka series engine and the sr engine is purely a technological one. The ka24 engine has excelent torque characteristics. It is a good solid engine. It takes nicely to boost. But it has a low redline; relatively speaking. The sr engine was designed from the ground up in an entirely different fashion. The sr engine has a higher redline due a a more sophisticated valve train. It also has a superior lubrication system in relation to the ka series engines.
Long story short....... Get an sr20det. Leave it bone stock. You will have a reliable car for years. If you have anymore questions, PM me. Good luck with your research. Manny Team Clockwork Performance www.teamclockwork.com |
