KA24DET vs. SR20DET

So I'm thinking about dropping a newer engine in my 1990 240SX and I personally want to go with SR20DET, but my a lot of my friends with 240's tell me i should go with KA24DET.

Im looking for an engine that I can drift with as well as use for daily driving. Anyone has suggestions???

If I remember correctly this has already been covered. You should look in the engine tech section. There is lots of good info there.

Take it easy on the kid!

The difference between the ka series engine and the sr engine is purely a technological one. The ka24 engine has excelent torque characteristics. It is a good solid engine. It takes nicely to boost. But it has a low redline; relatively speaking. The sr engine was designed from the ground up in an entirely different fashion. The sr engine has a higher redline due a a more sophisticated valve train. It also has a superior lubrication system in relation to the ka series engines.

Long story short....... Get an sr20det. Leave it bone stock. You will have a reliable car for years.

If you have anymore questions, PM me.

Good luck with your research.

Manny
