GReddy Type S BOV install...but what about the
I am attempting to complete this here when i get some time.
M current setup includes the HT Hotpipe. My question is...Do I need to do anything to the factory bypass valve that is located in my fenderwell?--that bypass valve is also hooked up to the sidemount IC. Or do all u have to do is install the GReddy on the hotpipe, run the vacuum hose from the TB, and then recirculate into the intake plumbing?<--Is this necessary first of all? Am I leaving anything out? I'm goin on 3 hours of sleep, so please forgive me for my lack of info ![]() |

I'd imagine that the reason for putting it on the cold pipe is cause there's really no reason to cool air if it's not going to your engine anyway, it's a waste. There's probably a better reason though. And yes, you should recirculate the blow off air back into the intake otherwise you're going to mess with your air-fuel ratios and your car isn't going to run right (it will run rich everytime you shift if I'm not mistaken).

The reasoning behind putting it in the cold pipe near the throttle body is because when the throttle is slammed shut during shifts, this is the 1st place most of the surge is occuring. It really makes no difference if it is in the cold or hot pipe.

I know this is an old thread, but I figure I might as well bump this up instead of making my own because it's the same question. What do I need to do with my stock bypass valve? I heard that I need a delete plate, does this have to be fabricated?

well since your are using a smic you are probably using the stock cold pipe which is plastic, its going on your hot pipe in that case. You can get a 1.5 or 2 in hose block thing.or take a piece of hose that fits and stick it on the fitting and a block of something, metal or pvcor whatever on the other end.
where to place the bov is optional. closest to the throttle body you will get the best throttle response but more surge. closest to the turbo and you get less response and more surge. |

Simple answer. Remove stock bypass valve. Plug any holes that are left in IC pinping / air intake. Move the vacuum line from stock bypass valve to new BOV. If you want to leave the stock bypass valve in place, just cap the vacuum port to make sure it stays shut. This would eleminate the need to plug holes, but rumor has it that it will leak under high boost.
