KA24DE runs badly out of the blue.... power loss and sputtering

Here is the skinny on the problem..... When I start it up, it will idle steadily and hold the idle, but the engine violently shakes back and forth. It has a good 4-6 inches of movement side to side. When I push on the gas, it will sputter it's way up the tach. I took it out on a test drive and it feels like there is no power in it, I push on the gas and it will hesitate and sputter, but still gain speed. It almost feels like you are driving in the wrong gear, just that shuddering and sputtering it will do.

I am at a loss with this one. Here is what I have done.....
New plugs
New wires
New cap
New rotor
New o2 Sensor
New fuel filter
New air filter

Put a voltmeter to the fuel pump since I thought that was the culprit and it checks out fine, has a resistance of .6 ohms and .5 is the specs in the FSM.

Put a voltmeter to the ignition coil and even swapped in a known good one and it still didn't fix it, and here is the odd part. When I tried to check the resistance on the ignition coil, I check the resistance down inside of the engine harness connector and not the coil itself. I got a reading of 23.50 ohms on it. I then checked the resistance of the same two wires in my coupe and it came out to be .9 ohms, so most likely my problem is in the power supply going to the ignition coil.

The car smells heavily of fuel like it is just dumping fuel into the engine and not burning it off. And there is no Check Engine Light on.

I'm stumped ladies and gentlemen. I need to get this car running. My CA18DET showed up this week, and I am going to need a second car to drive if I run into problems with my swap. Thanks for your time.

Joe

Update....

Problem resolved itself. I guess it was just bad gas. Car runs like a champ again.

for future reference my car has done that to me twice now. It tends to solve itself..

HOWEVER

after the second time it happened, I removed and cleaned the sparkplugs, put some WD40 on all the connections and it was fine

it took me a long time to figure out what my car was doing too (was doing the same thing)...

it was 2 fuel injectors...but like you said it would go away, and then come back. my guess is that they were pretty blocked, then just enough of some crap in the gas tank would clog it up again, then get blown back out...

if it happens again, try to borrow (cuz they are expensive, and you prolly dont wanna buy crap ya dont need) someones fuel injector and see if that fixes it, hope this helps
