Monitor Parameters
I'm looking for the parameters to have the monitors run on OBD-II cars. I'm looking for things like temperatures, RPM's, fuel levels, etc. Car failed the functional test when smogging due to incomplete monitors. I drive 20 miles on the freeway to work one way and the monitors still haven't completed or failed.

.....do they go away after you shut the car off (check the fuses)
or do they never complete?

Never complete. If a fuse was blown, it would trigger the check engine light on under two-trip logic (or one trip if it was something like the O2 sensor).
As far as go away, they don't complete at all. I guess I'm driving the wrong way to not trigger the monitors to run. I've been running the car with 3/4 tank of fuel and no less than 1/4 tank (I know that Toyotas need that to run the EVAP monitor). Mrmestopheles, please join in!!! |

Do you know what SRT codes are not set? Cat, Evap, O2 Sensor, O2 Heat, EGR?
General ideal conditions are: -Sea Level -Flat Road -68-86*F air temp at start up -14-95*F Coolant temp at start up -Idle the engine till +185*F Coolant temp Drive to the highway and cruse at 53-60mph till the Cat, O2 and EGR set. Takes about 10mins holding it 53-60mph. Best way is to drive 10mins on the HW then take the next exit. Idle in a gas station for 1~2mins then drive the 10mins home. Evap you have to do stop(0mph) and go(30-35mph) driving at least 10 cycles(~1min each). If the Evap still doesn't set take a cruse on the highway(53-60mph) after doing the stop and go driving for 5mins. Best to find some place that the speed limit is 35 and their is a stop sign on every corner.

The four that haven't set are the O2 Sensor (heater has set), Catalytic Converter, EGR sensor and EVAP system.
General ideal conditions are: -Sea Level-live 1400 feet above sea level -Flat Road-lots of hills -68-86*F air temp-maybe 64* during the day -14-95*F Coolant temp-by the time I get to flat lands, coolant will be 180* -Idle the engine till +185*F Coolant temp-this can happen. -Looks like I'll be spending some time in Sacramento. Would putting the car on a shop lift work or does the computer need to see load? |

Has to see a load. I usually clear readiness codes by just driving 100 miles, varying speeds throughout the trip, selecting different gears for different revs at speed, and cycling the A/C on and off a few times. I've done that with numerous OBD-II Nissan and Toyota cars without issue.

Thanks Russ. I'll try what both S14db and you have stated. I have til May to get the car smogged and registered so I have some time. I'll hit you guys up if I have any more issues with the monitors.
*On a side note, the car passed the emissions portion (sniffer) unlike my old S13, thats a relief! |

What I posted is Nissan's 20min SRT code set. If you are in the ideal zones and follow both patterns the computer should meet all it's criteria to set all the SRT's.
If you have one that is a stickler I can tell you what exactly it needs. But, typing out all of them is a PITA. If you can beg/borrow/steal a consult you can put it on the SRT screen and watch them lock in. Some scan tools that do emissions can too. Mine is annoying and you have to restart the tool to get it to re-query the emissions.
