SR S14 SR starting issue

ok so after a fresh swap, my car cranks and i can smell fuel like crazy...but it doesnt seem fuel is getting to the injectors. would i smell fuel if the feed and return were backwards?

Where are you worried about them being backwards? At the fuel rail? I can go pop my hood and tell you which of the hardlines it should be coming from.

Have you tried moving them around? Just to check. The feed for the fuel rail is above the return, and the feed comes out of the fuel filter (duh, lol). Anything more specific then that and I'll have to go look in my engine bay.

Not sure what it is, but take a look at your spark plugs to see if there is fuel on them; that should at least tell you if fuel is getting through the injectors. You may have already done this, but I would double check timing and test the ignitor. good luck!

Yeah, like everyone else said your fuel lines are correct.

Just have someone turn the key into the "on" position without turning it over while you squeeze the top fuel line coming out of the fuel filter. You'll feel it vibrate/buzz if your fuel pump is working properly and the fuel is moving through the line.

Check the resistance and voltage on your injector plugs....if you want to get nasty with it just pull out each injector one at a time and make sure fuel is squirting out when you turn it over.

Check your grounds and read through all of the trouble shooting section in the FSM...if you don't have the FSM download it.

On the other hand you should be happy to know the area around your fuel pump on your car is WAY less cluttered then mine. That's my next step (after I install my cams) - clean up my wiring harness and engine bay.

Good luck, it is going to be something small and annoying....I hope you get it figured out. If not my buddy who lives in Glouscter (about an hour past Richmond for you) could get it running no problem for cheap. He fixed my car in like 20 mins after I had been ripping my hair out for almost a month.

I'm going to be at my buddy's in Gloucester all weekend working on my car/partying if you want I can talk to him and see if you coming by is fine. I can basically guarantee we'll have it fixed in a few hours.
