"By hardening the inner rubber of a standard shift lever, the amount of deflection is decreased. At the same time, the lever length was reduced by about 7.5mm, providing a stroke 10% shorter. This changes the rather soft touch of a standard car to a much more precise, fast feeling. At the same time, while the goal is to change to a quicker shift, an overly short shift stroke will result in poor, heavy shifting. Unlike a quick shift, the lever ratio has not been changed, so the transmission syncro is not effected and a moderately faster degree of shifting is possible."

Not to insult your join date, but a 7.5mm reduction of lever length has 0% reduction in throw. You need to increase the length below the pivot to reduce shifting throw.
Any real true short shifter will have a longer pivot, this is why most ebay honda shifters hit a 2.5" exhaust.
The only difference with a B&M and ebay counterparts is the housings and possibly the material the shifter itself is made out of. The only way to say an ebay shifter is a peice of garbage is if they either adjust the pivot point too much, or just shorten the shifter handle and call it a short shifter. How is a shift kit that isnt made right going to mess with the synchros? the driver and fluid directly affect the synchros.
Most of the ebay shifters are just copying B&M$ housing and hight of pivot point. I was assume the reason they rattle is the shitty bearing they use.
