We have been approached by several advertisers about the capability to doing Email Blasts for Announcements, Specials and Other information.

Even though we have an email address from every member, that you used when you signed up, we have decided not to use this information in order to protect your privacy.

However, in these economic conditions and in order to help our advertisers make sure they reach their target audience we have started thinking about creating an opt-in email subscription list. This would allow advertisers to be able to send out these types of announcements.

Be assured that if we decide to create this service, you would have the option to subscribe and un-subscribe at any time, and the email address database would not be sold and would be controlled by Zilvia.net only. Advertisers would submit their information and we would send out the email and there would be no more than one email every week.

Please provide comments and feedback.

yeah sounds like a good idea, opt-in. sure beats refreshing the advertisers section every 5 minutes to see if there's a deal.

Spammers killed it. Our servers were overwhelmed with thousand's of spam messages an hour.

sure, so long as one can opt out i see no issues. At least itll be cool advertising coming to my inbox rather than "Mortgage Rates!, Penis Enlargements!, send me $10k and ill send you $100k" emails.

I say yes only if the material emailed is worthwhile. For example, if company 1 sold products x,y emails saying there is a buy one get one half off/free etc. on product X would be good.

Emails that say Product Y now in stock(unless it ran out) or something else that reminds you that company A carries product y I would say no to.

Perhaps a feature where you can choose which companies you want to send you mail would be nice as well.
