![]() I'm prep'ing for a turbo by HKS next year. Within the next 3 weeks I will have installed a HKS Exhaust system, Greddy Headers, and Ingen Cold Air Intake on my stock 97 240SX SE.
I want to start the ground work for advanced mods. I am looking to add these to my ride, let me know what you think. 1. HKS SR20DET Exhaust Camshaft 2. HKS DOWNPIPE (Decided against after reading one of the threads here) 3. Forged Pistons 4. Pulley Kits by Unorthodox @ modacar.com 5. Greddy Valve Springs (I pulled these parts from http://shop.store.yahoo.com/phase2mo...arsr20det.html Also is it possible to add some SR20DET parts to a KA engine as the ones mentioned above? |

dont forget about fuel
get 93 cobra mafs walbro fuel pump injectors (370cc) fpr most of the time its not about the engine itself.. its about those little things that support the engine that will help the engine run to its limit safely

the greddy header or the trust turbo manifold??
the greddy header is for NA the Trust is for turbo SR or did Greddy finally come up with the turbo kit for the KA?

Thanks for the input fellas. I had a feeling that those applications would not work for my 240. Back to the drawing board again.
One more question for you guys. What do you think about Greddy's Headers? I've heard that they were not that great. The only reason I opted for Greddy or DC sports headers is that most people use HOTSHOT. I wanted to be different and take another route thats all. |

If your going to go FI, don't bother with headers, or the intake, as both will have to be trashed later.
btw - Greddy headers will be better for top end power, hotshot will be better for low end torque.. also, the greddy is carb approved because it leave the cats in place. The hotshot removes the first cat.

"HEADERS" is just a term invented in the hot-rod era to describe exhaust manifolds constructed of tubing, rather than a cast iron piece. You can still use a "header" with a turbo, but they will be totally different than the ones you would use for a non-turbo car.
See, the turbo mounts just downstream of the exhaust ports, so it uses a very short/small exhaust manifold. In stock form on the SR20DET, this is a cast piece. You can upgrade to ones made of mandrel-bent equal-length tubing, however. This, I suppose, could be called a "header"...but no one calls it that. The term "header" is only used in conjuntion with non-turbocharged cars. However, you could still use a header with a SUPERcharged car, as the supercharger has no effect on the exhaust side of the car. Make sense? Your buddy at work is a know-nothing tool. And you can quote me on that. I'm ready for the backlash. :hammer: ![]() Eric

![]() So just to make sure I'm correct on this. The intake manifold and exhaust manifold are two different parts. The exhaust manifold or headers such as greddy would be attached to the engine and cat and from there to the exhaust? The intake manifold would be that attaches to the other side of the engine to the turbo? I see a kit that offers the turbo with a manifold (HKS Kit) and header (Innovative Turbo kit) so it kinda threw me off.
I'm holding off on the purchase of Greddy headers b/c if I will have to use a different application for my turbo then it will be a waste. Also has anyone done any work to their throttle body and noticed a difference in performance? I'm looking for someone local in Denver that could hook me up. I appreciate your help and patience fellas. |
