You should feel like one.

When you jailbreak an ipod/iphone it allows you to get other 3rd party applications that Apple restricts. Some of these applications run in the background and what not. It also allows you to completely change the look/theme of the GUI to basically whatever you want.

There are tons of apps Apple wont allow in the app store that you can get through cydia/installer app once its jailbroken, like SNES/Sega rom emulators, winterboard, etc.
