tuning the motor, how high should rev limit be?
I've been working on my car for some time now and its almost getting to the point of being all back together and getting tuned. the question is when I have it tuned and a new rev limiter set, how high should it be? I'm told that with my upgraded cams, valve springs and rocker arm stoppers I should be able to rev quite a bit higher. my set up is:
sr20det, 5spd hks ssqv (welded onto the cold side) nismo 550 injectors z32 maf blitz filter s15 t28 ss turbo lines megan exhaust manifold megan turbo elbow megan down pipe greddy profec b greddy front mount intercooler wlabro 255 fuel pump BC 264 cams Brian Crower Valve Spring & Ti Retainer Kit (i think its BC200 or somthing) rocker arm stoppers greddy adjustable cam gears power fc ecu light weight pulleys spitfire ignition system and coils Circuit Sports Magnetic Oil Drain Plug NGK Iridium IX Spark Plug, 7 Heat Range Wix Z32 Fuel Filter ISIS Intake Manifold ISIS underdrive Crank Pulley Peak Performance Thermal Intake Manifold Gasket sard fuel presure regulator fuel presure gauge 2.5" hot pipe 2 12" fans adjustable fan controller 3" aluminum rad nismo thermostat bigger oil pan oil cooler new front timing cover and oil pump front main seal new oem timing chain revised chain guides new lower cam chain sprocket new cam chain tensor F1 stage 3 clutch fidanza 9.5lb flywheel driveshaft shop aluminum 1 piece drive shaft nismo 2way diff 300zx axles plx wide band and guage engine torque dampner |

That turbo will run out of efficiency way before you over rev that motor, a good tuner will see when you are out of your power band, and set the limit just above that (about 1000RPMS) but you should note where your power band is, and keep that in mind when shifting.
