If it came with a gasket than you should use that one since it came with it in the package. Sometimes the instructions will tell you that you need a gasket just to make sure you have it in. This is probably because you have a new version and they used an old instruction. By the way does it really remove the cat on your car because im also planning on getting one pretty soon. Also post up the install difficulty and performance gains if you will. Good luck!

How easy was the install for you guys with the hotshot header? Also does it remove the cat at all? Any modifications? Or is it a direct bolt on?

I am getting the install done today by a local shop, they are only charging $75 for the header, cat and full exhaust.

If you use the stock exhaust i believe it takes away your cat, but i got the random flow cat and 5zigen fireball exhaust.

I helped my friend install his HotShot Header last week. It sounds great with his HKS Hiper and downpipe.

To clarify a few things:

1) Hotshot upgraded the header design (maybe 3rd generation) but did not upgrade their instructions. It suggests getting new gaskets but they now include all that is needed.

2) It meets at the bottom and connects to the Cat, it won't replace it. If you want, get a downpipe.... sounds so much better w/out the cat, imho.

We messed around with the install, took us 4 hrs because the hardest part was removing the AIV, EGT, and getting the 10+ yr old bolts loose from the exhaust manifold (PB Blaster works wonders!) Once everything was off, only took 45 min to install the header. We also went parts searching... long story, don't ask. Haha

Don't forget to wipe it down after you install, don't want the fingerprints/grease to burn into the header when it gets hot.

Congrats on the purchase!

you don't need to pay somebody to put the headers on for you. It is so easy. You will need to put on a cat before you put on the rest of the exhaust system.

make sure if you disconnect the steering linkage to drop in the header you re-align it when you put it on, the whole thing is splined and you need someone to help you find the level position.

when i installed mine i didnt have to disconnect the steering linkage. but it would of saved about 10 minutes if i did.

the gasket that came with the header wore out on me. so now im using a MR. Gasket copper gasket. the seal is great and no leaks! i got it a great price of $14 through work. i would suggest using this one if the originals goes south.

don't worry about the steering linkage, doesn't really get in the way that much with the new version of the headers. With the old version, it would have been an easier install. The headers will just slip right in once you have all the old stuff out of the way.
