Any swapped guys around here running stock exhaust still?

About to complete an rb swap into a car and I was wondering if anyone here is running a stock exhaust on their cars still. Really trying to do it to keep the cops and others eyes of the car as its practically a daily driven car. So have any of you guys with SR's or other swaps got away with running your factory 2" exhausts? Is it going to hurt the engine in any other way than restricting the overall power output of the motor?

The setup is running a 3" DP to a 3" test pipe than to a stock s13 exhaust. I was even considering getting the resonator box removed and having a piece of pipe welded into its place. Boost is staying stock as well. In the future we may add the megan type 2 exhaust or the circuit sports exhaust to complete it but money is starting to run out and another $500.00 in the next few days is kinda out of the question.

you can run a stock exhaust on a sr or rb no problem, thats how they came from the factory. alot of people do it over here in cali to keep the cops off their ass.

Problem with the HKS is that it sticks out like a sore thumb. Cops here will pull you over for simply MODIFIED EXHAUSTS. So a big coffee can hangin of the rear will definately alert cops and car thiefs.

Custom 3 inch piping into a dual tip magnaflow muffler. Ran it on a customers RB and it was nice. Will cost around $250-350 from a good shop that either does mandrel bending or stocks mandrel bends.

I ran a JDM ST May 3.25 piping with a Magnaflow dual tip on my RB car and it worked well.

Do not stick stock size exhaust piping on your SR or RB unless your into restricted HP lol

Turbo engines like to breath. The trick is at the rear end of the car. Running a dual tip 3 inch inlet muffler is the trick. If you don't run a resonator in the middle than go for a long 18inch muffler. If you run something in the middle you can run a shorter 13inch muffler.

I have a Black top with elbow, 3'' dp, & 3" test-pipe all with stock exhaust. Been on it for months with no problem. But to me i'd love to have a cat-back as well but was broke after the swap =(

But at least get the Megan like you said, fuck stock lol

Just got a fix-it exhaust ticket on my S14 w/ a Blitz 3"in fart cannon w/ catco cat.
Apparently painting it flat black is not enough (not too surprising).
I was looking for a similar solution.

I tried to look for a reasonably priced alternative that doesn't attract unwanted attention in sight & sound
I'm leaning towards the Megan Type 2 for approx $330 + painting the tips flat black.
Megan Racing Type-2 Dual Tip Exhaust Black Nissan S14

The Magnaflow muffler, plus custom piping has been a consideration as well.
I'm just afraid the price would be higher.
You figure it's already around $170 for a dual tip 18" muffler.
Was looking at this model:
MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust

After all the fabrication & install, might be more costly than the Megan type 2.

my friend is running a WRX exhaust, its too damn quiet and i feel like his car is slow.. but he likes it.

personally, turbo cars MUST have a nice exhaust.. period.

want quiet, go NA.

edit: btw, rsr exmag is also super quiet and great quality, better than most of the shit out there.

Apexi World Sport Noir - black, 3" straight through with resonator and muffler, doesn't stick out much. It does have a 4" tip, but it's not can-style. This would be your best bet for an "off the shelf" solution.

There are also a ton of dual-tip OEM-style mufflers out there (Megan, Circuit Sports, Flowmaster) just buy one, add an additional muffler to it, and have a muffler shop put it together for you. That'd be the best route.

I like the can-style look, but wanted to keep it dB-legal, so I did a Dynatech Split-flow 3" straight through muffler to my Aspec long-tip can with 3" mandrel-bent piping - looks great, sounds legal.

Running the OEM catback will make the car feel stock. Takes away from the driving experience, but will definitely keep cops off your back. Running a sidemount with the RB completes the stock look.

well thats because your getting your pricing straight from Magnaflow which its MSRP. LOL since when has a 240 owner paid MSRP. Seriously check out Summit racing or call around the local muffler shops. I got my Magnaflow 3inch dual 2.5 out for like $50 $170 is fucking nuts.

Seriously if you shop around it will be way less than a $170. Or just go to Speedway muffler in Rowland heights and they will do the whole Job for you with the muffler for $250.
