I broke a transmission in a E46 M3 like three years ago - I was sliding it around and I shifted from first to second in the middle of a corner spinning the tires... then lost all gears but second. Drove it up to the dealer in 2nd, they covered it 100% but were asking questions about how I managed to do it, since they'd never seen it happen before.
