ZENKI: Headlight Blackhouse/HID

Hey guys I need a little bit of help. I'm trying to black house my 95' s14(zenki) headlights and I need some info on how to do them. Also I've been told that unless you put on projectors, you won't be able to get that clean cut off with the HID's. I took of the reflectors on the bulbs and had them installed. Since there is no "clean cut off" I'm curious of what exactly I should be looking for with my HID's. Will be awaiting your replies guys. THANKS!

I don't get what you're asking.

Here's my attempt anyway.

If you're using an HID kit in a Zenki headlight, you're never gonna get a "clean cut off", end of story.

OK... First off the reflective shields were there to do a majority of the aiming for you clean cut off for the stock bulbs. Since you took those away you are now at ground zero. The clear lenses will give it a clean look but will provide no cut off / and will blind the piss out of on comming traffic (provided you don't correct this problem). You can do two things 1: retro fit a projector to your headlight housing (s2000 exc...), or 2: you can angle your lights down and run the risk of the blinding the piss out of people. I don't know what your looking to spend but you can get a set of projectors for a retro under 150.00 easy and go from there. There are threads here and on this site: HiDPlanet.com :: Index this site has some stuff on it as well http://www.hidplanet.com/main.html As far as your black housing needs, heat the lense glue up with a heat gun or elchepo oven them bad boys, pull the lens, tape off what you don't want black, and paint away. HID's don't put too much heat out for the amount of time you will be driving anyways (don't quote me on that) so I'm pretty sure a variety of rattlecan paint will work just check the back of the can. Spend the extra to get actual headlight lense sealant vs. silicone. I went a slightly different route as I have the german glass housings. I powdercoated my housings a gloss black. I went with a set of S2000 & M5 projectors for my retro fitting. I will tell you this though take your time and spend the little extra and you will be happy. When you get to ordering your bulbs and ballasts 6k-8k would be my recommendation. IMO they give off the best clarity. Hope this helped you out some.

clear lenses with projector will be the only way to get that reallie clean sharp cup off line.

your going ghetto you will atleast need flutes. which are d2s adapters. search on ebay.

and those will block some light that is reflected up.

what you want do do is paint and block the bottom of your headlight so the reflection doesnt point up. which helps ppl from not gettin blinded.

and that way you dont have to point your headlights all low and makes hid's pointless almost.

hmm..i see what you guys are saying..the reason why i took the reflective shields off was cuz my friends told me that i would not need them unless i had projectors (which i did not want)...guessing they were wrong?

That's correct - clean cutoff means projector housing, or really high quality reflectors.

Your friend had it backwards - the reflective shields are necessary because you don't have projectors... you have reflector housings, so you need the reflectors!

I've racked my brain many-a-night to try and figure out a nice, "modern" headlight solution for Zenkis, and there just isn't one. Fliprayzin did the HID retrofit into a black housing zenki headlight, and it looked... misplaced. Fit/finish was OK, but just didn't fit the car (tiny little headlight in a huge housing). I've thought of trying to use some flex CCFL to do a square-ish angel eye around a projector to fill up the empty space, but I don't see it coming out well.

If you wanna be baller, pick up some German glass-housings, and put HIDs with d2s adapters in those.

^^^My misplaced headlights hate you...Acura TSX projectors.

Why were they small, because they had to be. There isnt a whole lot of room in there in able to use the stock headlight adjustments. Anything bigger, I would have had to hack the back housing more and it wouldnt be adjustable.

You should really learn how to search. Its been covered countless times. Stick headlight housing in pre-heated oven @ 250 degree for 10-15 min, pull apart lense from housing. Mask what you don't want paint black, paint, and put back lense. End of story.

It will still look like shit. The reflectors are designed for halogen bulbs. The beam center will still be off. High quality glare.

The only thing you could do is find some HID reflectors that fit and install them with D2Rs.
