Need some help, I really screwed up!!!
I was installing a set of HKS cams in my SR and dropped the large washer that goes on the exhaust cam sprocket bolt down in the oil pump housing.. I looked all around the area of the Timing chain and also probed the area with a magnet and nothing. I'm sure it fell down the right side of the oil pump housing. I hope it fell into the oil pan area, or on top of the baffle that is down there. What are the chances of that happening? If not, how much work is involved in removing the oil pump? Has this happen to anybody else, or just me?....*LOL*Thanks.....

i honestly would drain the oil, pull the oil pan and start removing items till you find it, dont want to destroy your motor...

yeah take the pan off and see if you find anything. maybe you can see it from the bottom.
taking the oil pump off really involves taking the head off. ive taken a pump off without taking the head off and its a nightmare. bad news all around. |

sorry i really hate to threadjack, but what makes taking the oil pump off (without taking off the head) such a nightmare? i'm gonna need to be resealing my front cover, and was hoping i could just pull it off, clean it, then reseal it (obviously won't be as simple as im making it sound, but you get the point.)

Not much it could have got caught up on before the baffle plate aside from the timing thain, guide, tensioner, at which point you could have probably just cranked the motor by hand and got it down. Good to hear it worked out for you. |
