Air Force anyone??

So yeah, I was wondering if anyone currently(or formerly) in the AF could give me some more insight on these jobs. There seems to be a decent amount of military here. I've been looking at some of the descriptions and whatnot, so I'm not completely clueless as to what they are. Just looking for some more knowledge. My recruiter told me to pick 4, and these were the ones that interested me the most. I thought I wouldn't qualify for a lot of mechanical jobs and i'd have more choices in the electronics, but I was wrong haha.
I wanted something that would have good equivalents(<--- is that the proper usage? lol) in the civilian world. I don't know if these do actually, but i assume they do . =P
Working on either planes/helis would most likely mean me leaving the country, right? I was on that mil. website that lists the possible deployment areas, and it seemed to be the case. My recruiter told me that too. I really want to be out of country hah.

Anyways, here are the jobs.

1N2X1 - COMMUNICATION SIGNALS INTELLIGENCE PRODUCTION
2A5X1 - AEROSPACE MAINTENANCE
2A5X2 - HELICOPTER MAINTENANCE
1N1X1 - IMAGERY ANALYSIS

If you score really high on the asvab most likely you will have a option to get alot better job. My friends been in the airforce for about a year now and he's maintenance for the fighter jets.

I was in for 6 years... 2W051 .. Munition System Maintence = Beer Drinker!

Every job has some form on some varity of work that will cross over... Perfect example.. go for a DA or DOD Civil Job when you get ready to get out...

Example .. Air Force 2W051 = Munitions Systems .. Storage, Maintence, Build up... etc...

But in the Civil Job world = Logistics, Supply, Stock Control, Base Ammunition Saftey Officer (yes, they make BANK!! ).. etc...

So crossing over is all about what you can make your Resume say ... But good Luck in the AF. I enjoyed my time and got out as a SSGT E-5 ...

Also take FULL advantage of FREE school no Matter the AFSC you decide on!

hm really? i actually was thinking about giving it another go, i felt like i could have done atleast better than a 75.. i mean, with my current score, all but a few mech. jobs are open for me. general too, but electronical only like 7 are open hah.

also, how does the deployment work really? my recruiter told me that you pick your places you want to be sent to. is it really that simple? i highly doubt that lol.

No you really don't have a choice.. you will put down what jobs you would like to do and based on manning and your scores, you will be placed somewhere. Its a gamble. If you plan to stay in after your first enlistment is done, you can cross-train.

I wanted to work on jet engines initially. After talking to all my buddies who do and visiting shops to drop off parts.... I'm glad I don't. The ones that are halfway into cars lack motivation due to keeping the jets in the air.......... Long hours depending on your mission.

I also totally messed up on the math section at Meps, so that had something to do with my placing. I'm a vehicle operator and I like what I do. The convoy thing in Iraq and Afgan blows at times.. but its good money for me.

not anymore
it used to be you could
but not now. you get what you get

but seriously
think hard about it

my weeks used to consist of 12 horus a day, 5-6 days a week, for months on end.
maintenance is no fun. if you dont love what you do, you will hate it.

If I had to do it all over again I would probably try to do something in the medical field, xray tech comes to mind. I was a 3co, I was lucky and only did a year on a helpdesk but most likely it is where you will end up if you where to go that route and it was a fairly unfulfilling job for me while in. Comm is a fairly easy 9 to 5 type job though. No clue about the jobs you posted though

if you want to make big bucks after you get out.. sign for 4 years as a 1N1 and get out and make 100k a year easily. i have 1 year left in my enlistment, and have already got job offers lined up. only thing that is scary is that they are contractor jobs, meaning once they have no need for you, you gotta find a new job. But you could work for nsa or northrup gruman or w/e also.. lots of jobs out there.. i came in 1N1 and now im flying uav's.. Oh i also enlisted at yokota also.. miss that place! heard it sucks there now for the car guys..

I've been thinking about USAF too.

Looking at either:
-Para rescue
-I forgot what's it's called for the guy who goes with the front line troops to call in air strikes.
-MP
-Anything with guns would be nice, armorer/gunsmith or what not.

I'm more looking towards a career in law enforcement, but anything works. Could always do Army/USAF as a career.
