So off timing was the reason for the hesitation? Even with it being corrected matters got worse/stayed the same. Hopefully it will all get worked out soon

![]() Haha, my car looks so ragged compared to yours. Not nearly as classy, like Julia Roberts before Richard Gere. I love the fact that you still think of me when the subject of wheels/boasting/etc comes up. Makes me happy inside. Spacers are annoying. ZING!

See, it was an electrical issue the entire time! Although I'd really like to know how you had the timing 33* off...that would involve a few teeth on the crank no?
That also explains the free revving...like before if unburnt fuel is somehow exploding in the turbine housing, it will create boost. Homebrew anti lag sonnn. PS: I'll search through some of the upper storage tonight for a S13 maf. I may have sold it, so don't get hopes up, but I gotta put my stock rear uprights up there and will look while I am there.

that's cool with me, whatever floats people's boats. I was really torn about spending 100 dollars to push my wheels out 10mm... Granted it makes my rear stance way way waaaaay better. That money would've been better spent on an sr throttle body.
And cody we're not out of the woods yet. I don't necessarily need a maf, I don't think so yet. So lets not jump the gun here. The throttle body and tps right now at this moment are our main concern. And me getting the feds to replace those items. |

And yes, who cares if you have spacers. I got a set towards the end of the year for hardly nothing (10 or is it 15 mm) and really like the way the Z33 wheels looked with them pushed out even that little amount (what are the Track 18" wheels offset, like 35 OE? So making it 20 or 25 made them look great. FWIW: I owned a set of real deal 57pros in 18x10 and 18x9 with nice offsets. I ended up waiting 8 months for them, never installed them, and luckily made out on the sale with a local seller. I'll never do that again.

i <3 my spacers.
some wheels are dope as fuck, but don't come in custom offset/sizes. personally, i LOVE the enkeis i have right now in 9/10 stagger, but they only came in high offsets. |

I cleaned off the throttle body before putting it on, found a spare plug off of my old ka harness that fit the tps sensor, installed it. took the negative battery cable off and waited a bit, put it back on started the car.
idles at 900rpm like it should, go to crank it and now with no load it breaks up at 3 grand. I even saw an explosion intake side at first and then the idle sat at 2 grand. Which is why I decided to reset the ecu with the negative power removal. So all the sr tps sensor and throttle body allowed my car to do is retard the timing before it even gets a load... I was also given an sohc maf, I don't have a pigtail for this, I specifically remember throwing it away when I cleaned up the engine harness. So I can't really put that on the car, but I am pretty sure the maf took a shit again, although the car isn't blowing black smoke all over the garage, I can just SMELL gasoline when trying to gas the car. Sigh, I seriously just want a fucking MAP based ecu system to replace all of these old shitty stock parts that keep malfunctioning. |

Car is now drivable...
interesting... So I had this s13 ka24e maf that I was given and plugged it up to try it out, the car felt torqish to about 4 grand and cut out like before, then it got all goosey, i'm assuming the wires touched at this point. I came home, remember reading about dirty mafs, so I grabbed a new paint brush I had at home in one of my art sets and cleaned all of this black carbon off of the sensors on my maf, and the 4 rods they were connected to. The car runs all the way through it's power band now like it should, no hesitation, but also feels like the car has absolutely no torque at all, almost like the turbo itself never kicks in. All engine power, I mean I ran through my gears down the street and it felt like I was driving my single cam civic. wheres the torque at holmes, where is this turbo powah? right now, who gives a flying fuck... car runs through it's power band just fine, i'm sure the timing is off (chain wise) rather than cas wise now. I bet if I put the timing off by 5-10 degree's it would run like it's supposed to. I'm just happy the car is drivable, my issues are not completely solved so i'm not out of the woods, but the car isn't driving like a bag of dicks anymore so I'm happy. I need to get another MAF pigtail from a harness and ditch the one on my car. Godamn pins wiggle loose. |

well im glad your car is running now. yes ive read many things about pulling the timing. they say never go by the notches on the main pulley, to go by the way "it feels".
my advice is to adjust the CAS: advancing or pull timing. i had to do this to my car and now it runs great! hope this helps. ps glad my parts helped you! haha

GOod to hear it was a MAF related issue after all ![]() Quote:
Verify mechanical timing via marks, and then set timing via marks. Sure if you crank it to 19* baseit it will feel good and spool the turbo fast, but you're just ASKING to melt a hole in your piston. This is why stock timing is the best timing, maybe a degree extra.
