not sure why your car would overheat from messing with the timing.... have you tried flushing your coolant system? replacing your thermostat? anyway as for the bogging, i had this probably a few weeks ago. after much money and time wasted, it turned out to be my mafs. mine had sucked something across it somehow and bent one of the wires on it very slightly. i switched another one in and it worked perfectly. also try cleaning the mafs if its not damaged with some electric cleaner. the bogging could be many things but this is what happened to mine. also you could try running a can of seafoam in your gas , maybe you might have bad/water in your tank. just my 2 cents hope it helps
