240sx Frame Rail

i know most of u dont have to deal with this, but up here the salt just kills our rails.

The rail is tig welded with a ramdson welder stupid 3 in 1 type....

i have dimple dies coming and plan to add supports on the inside with the dimple dies to make it that much stronger...

Used 16g

Started like this...

ended like this....

Tell me what u think...GOOD OR BAD

^ provide some part numbers ? last I checked Nissan stopped making them and they are super hard to get ahold of.

part numbers would be awesome though, I need both driver and passenger sides

What guage is an OEM rail?

You don't want to make the frame rails out of anything thicker than what's already there. Welding thicker metal to thinner metal makes a stress point on the weld, actually weakening it.

Make them out of OEM gauge metal and you're good to go.

You can still get Left hand (drivers side) rails from Nissan, but not passenger side.

What's that supposed to mean? They're a different shape. They both angle in the front. It's not like you can use two left ones.

well no, they use pre fab'd plates to stamp out the part they want right ? takes about a hour to swap the plates for a different part, whats stopping them from doing that to get the other frame rail ?
