ka24de front cover removal.

so im replacing my timing chain, and i have the upper cover off, the crank pully off, i took the ac compressor and ps pump out just so i could get more leverage to pry the cover off, but still no luck. the lower cover just wont come off, i took the wood drufff key off, just to see if it was somewhat hindering the cover from being removed, but thats not it, am i just not prying hard enough? it seems to be getting caught at the crank =\

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=155138

i might try this tomorrow dropping the oilpan just to see if anything being caught.

upon doing further research i believe this might be it, the oil pick up tube, if theres anything else i should know, if someone could chime into to help, ill really apprieciate it. =)

its the oil pick up tube that is hindering you from taking it off. it would make life easy if you took the pan off.

is the motor still in the car?

the oil pan needs to come off. The oil pump(located in the lower timing chain cover) has a pickup tube that goes down into the oil pan. You got the chuck out of the crank right? Also remove your water pump.

After the oil pan and pump pickup are off and all the bolts are loose the only thing that should be holding the cover on is the goo that is used to seal it between the block and the timing cover.

the pickup has a 10mm bolt holding it to the girdles, even if you could have agot it off the bottom of the pump/cover, you d have a to take it off to get it back on. alot of people seem to have oil pump questions lately
