I had an old beater of a mini when I was 14 bougt for $300. I used to rally about in on gravel forest roads, nothing special but it died a horrible death on a large rock... still there as far as I know

The Cooper S is getting rarer, quite a few where bought over here and they used to race them at Bathurst up against big ol 70's V8 muscle cars, they did pretty well too!
My flatmate Martin had a cooper S before he got the 180SX and we used to spend weekends replacing the head gaskets quite a lot, still the little barstard took off like it had a rocket up its arse and had this really cool, evil hissing sound from the twin 45mm SU's.
You didnt want to stand real close, it'd suck an arm off

Eventually he got sick of rebuilding the engine after hitting redline every weekend and sold her off, you could feel the pain.

Anyway, Im off to bed, 7am after a 12hr nightshift does not make a happy MK...

ed- cant spell either

hehe. you guys and the UK treat em like theyre disposable cuz you got so many! we only got em from '59-'67, a few '68's so they are very valuable. my car sold for $19,900 US bucks after it was done. but it was literally a new car, every nut & bolt!! they can be had as cheap as $3000 in restorable condition.
sleep well!

$3000! For a clapped out one?
Man, your getting robbed!
Most of the average, still running bog-stock ones can be had for what would be $600-1000US, assuming you can still find one. Actually I havent seen many on the streets over the last 8 years but theyre still out there. A good, mint condition Cooper S though will set you back about $6500 US though, fully restored and everything.
Most of the Clubman ones have all been done up ages ago with Cooper S parts and brakes anyway.

So yeah, they where pretty disposable I guess
Mind you, I had this origional Mk1 Ford escort Coupe (bought for $1000AU at the time) done up as a rally car as well that died a horrible death on a rock and 3 pine trees as well. Looking back on it, yes I have done some really evil things to some genuine collectors cars that Im kicking myself for now because they are worth a bloody fortune now...

gmgS14, get ye to the UBB help files here-

Looks like its hosted at a 'free' webspace site and they dont allow direct hyperlinking to UBB boards.
Others that wont either are Geocities and Tripod.
