You should always use a fan on a radiator. Even with a high performance, thick radiator. Any time you stop....your radiator isn't cooling. I have a CXr rad and it works wonderfully.

Don't be cheap get a fan. Even if its a clutch fan. Some debate that they even work better, it just takes up more space is all.

i experience this first hand. Before i deleted my clutch-fan, I did not have any problem of over-heating , let alone running a lil hotter than normal. Then i put in an E-fan and my temp would very slightly move above normal before going down to its running temp, it even gets worst when A/C is on. I think it could be the coolant, wasnt bled right maybe after i change the fans and fluids. |

I have a CXR radiator with stock clutch fan and shroud, I had electric fans but I didn't want to deal with the wiring, car idles great, cools fine, just recently replaced the temp sensor for the gauge so I know it's accurate! And when I beat on it it's steady warm.

No, i have no aftermarket gauge on my car.
but i see what you're saying, the thing is though, I never had a problem with the gauge needle going over its normal running temp when i had the OE A/C fan, and clutch fan along with the shroud. Now that i have a Ford escort/Taurus fan with its own shroud, my temp would slightly go above normal and gets even worst when A/C is on. |

True I know what your saying. However it is only in the general vicinity if it is the oem gauge. You probably want to use an aftermarket of some kind if you want an accurate reading.
