whats illegal lighting?

Ok we all know theres h.i.d.s out there where you can have any color. Well Im going to rock stock headlights and run some leds or just a colored bulb for my turn signal, but What i want to know if changing any of the lighting illegal? I see it every day i drive, but my cars white with tint and black rims and i just dont want to throw anything on thats just excessively colored or ricer. Basically my plan was to have blue or red turn signals. I have these caps you can get at pep boys and ya know, they arent blue as you think. They are more like sky blue color. Can anyone help me out, this will just give me a clear idea of what to do and not to do on the car. Thanks in advance.

besides the typical rice or whatever junk is to follow my post.

red and blue are illegal on a moving and non moving car. to police you are replicating an emergency vehicle. if you use them for turn signals its 10x worse because they will catch you easier. just go with a bright white or bright amber. much better.

HID's are illegal in any cars "technically". cars without projectors that have HIDs are more prone to getting caught.

just stay away from anything you wouldn't see on a normal car.

regarding the hids, i think its only illegal if it didnt come with the hids from the factory, i.e. with projectors that work. i had hids with no projectors for awhile and the spread/cut off was pretty bad, dont think i was blinding on coming cars per se but im sure they could see my lights in their eyes at certain angles.

Make sense, but i mean i see this stuff all the time and its not ricer depending on how it looks on the car. I was planning on sky blue turn signals on my white s14. At the moment i have silvanias there and its white. Im only doing this because theres alot of pple with the same setup. Plus i drove 2hrs at night with them white as my headlights and never was pulled over once. Im going to ask a local cop about having sky blue turn signals. Plus mine done stay on like fog lights do so it may not be as big of a deal as some think. I will get back on this tomorrow with more info if its legal or not.

You can see amber much better than "sky blue" at night. I saw just leave your lights alone. That already looks like it would attract the unwanted attention you're talking about.

Check with your local law enforcement. They will be able to tell you EXACTLY what is illegal.

Plus, this requires you to actually interact with people, instead of just posting stupid questions on the internet.
