rustoleum in a can is some really good stuff. You can actually go onto tcpglobal. that's where I buy anything paint related....it's cheap. and they ship to your door.

even can get creative with metallics and shit. good luck man. post pics when done.

i did the rustoleum paint job only cost me about $100 max. just find where to spray the car. Since im a guy who is not picky about quality, rustoleum get the job done.

Heres some piks of my rattle-can paint job. only reason i did it was because at the moment i didn't have enough money for a real paint job and my car was multi colored.. red bumper, hood, and half the fender was red and the other half was blue and the rest of the body was primered black.. all in all i'm satisfied with my $30 paint job.

My brother is a painter so he's gona paint the whole car for me in the next month or two.. when i have enough to buy good clear coat. til then.. this will do

Here's another rattle can job I'm in the process of finishing up for a friend of mine.

When I first got it:
(rear was being jacked up to swap out the wheels for stock SE's)

Bumpers, sideskirts, and fenders were super dull from the previous owner's paint job. Not to mention the rock chips and duct tape residue on the fenders.

During(prep):

After paint(Orange peel galore):

Wet sanded:

Buffed:

Still need to do the quarter panel pulls and buff the rest of the car. Not bad though considering it's rattle canned.

Look at an orange, see that skin? thats what orange peel paint looks like with all the dimples.

Gotta say guys, coming to this thread i was expecting to see complete crap, but seeing some of these spray jobs, i'm going to spray my daily beater rustoleam, and buff it clean.

Honestly though, for the amount of work I put into it, I was definitely better off just spraying it with a gun/compressor. I would have if I had free space in my garage.

Bad time of the year for that though. Cold weather = no bueno.

I am honestly impressed with the quality of some of these paint jobs. I think its great, especially on race cars.

Thing is with all rattle can job is the total lack of UV protection. The paint will fail over time and you will see it fade.

Its funny how much time some of you spent on rattle can paint, might as well used good paint. You gatta know where to draw the line..

Because of the massive amount of orange peel, I dropped down to 800 grit (wet sanding obviously).

After that, 1000 grit, 1500 grit, and 2000 grit. Have some 2500, but it wasn't necessary.

Tempo, the car wasn't in the best of shape when I first got it, but it definitely isn't the worst I've seen.

All it really needed was a fresh new coat of paint (which has already been taken care of) and a new set of wheels (which are on the way).

Not that hard of a fix.

Those of you that have sprayed, do you guys typically take off all bumpers and skirts or just spray them while they're on the car? I am planning on pulling off my front bumper so as not to get spray paint on my intercooler, but aside from that am just planning on painting the rest of the car with my skirts and rear bumper on.

the s13 im picking up is rattle canned primer...apparently its pretty straight dent wise, so there wouldnt be much work for me to just reprimer it this spring and shoot it...still trying to decide if hooking up my hvlp and spending $80 on a gallon of single stage paint from summit racing is worth it, or if i should just buy rattle cans and have at it and just let it turn out how it will...

Has anyone used VHT wrinkle paint products. I am about to do my valve cover but don't want to wait on some powder cater if I can just paint it.

My real question is how this stuff holds up over time. I know it can look really good.

I've had VHT wrinkle on my valve cover for a couple of months now and haven't had any issues.
