RB25DET NOZZ top mount turbo manifold.....
Does anyone have any experience with these NOZZ turbo manifolds for the RB25? Are they over priced chinese junk, or the next step up. I need a T3 divided top mount manifold for my car, and can't dish out $1500 right now. Thanks for the help....

Thanks for the responses. I was considering getting a wastegate flange welded to my stock manifold, however I have heard welding steel to cast iron is prone to cracking. The turbo I will be running is an externally gated HX35. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a manifold, as I plan on doing a different engine conversion in the near future. I have access to professionall welding at work, so bracing should not be a problem. I also have an HKS cast manifold, however it is a T4 flange, which leaves me with little choices to fit a turbo in that small space. I wish there was a decent manifold available at a reasonable price......

mazworx told me they had planned on releasing a DIY manifold kit for the RB. However they have since not responded to my emails lol. anyways, it would be worth asking them about

That would be awesome. As anyone with an RB knows, the manifold situation is grim. You are either spending $200 on a chinese knockoff or you are spending at least $1500 everwhere else. When is someone going to offer a reasonably priced manifold? When are these companies going to realize that not many people can afford a manifold that costs more than the engine itself? The aussie made 6boost manifolds were the best value out there until the USD fell off. $800 shipped for an amazing steampipe manifold with the best collectors available.

Chinese labor is cheap. They also use the cheapest SS they can find, Some thin wall 304. not going to last long compared to schedule 40 321.
$1,500 is cheap. Full Race RB manifolds are $2,300.

$1500 is expensive, $2300 is outrageous. An RB25 motor/trans can be purchased for $2000. I understand that materials are not cheap and american labor is certainly not either, but there has to a way to produce a reasonable priced manifold while still turning a profit. If 6boost can produce a quality steampipe manifold, why can't someone do it in the US. Materials are much cheaper than 304..321 stainless, and are extremely strong. Just because it doesn't shine and look like it came off a space shuttle, does not mean it does not work.

Well, without many options to choose from, do you think that with some bracing, that NOZZ manifold could last awhile. I was also thinking about S-Tec and getting a T3 welded to it for my HX35. I have heard good things about there manifolds. I was also considering finding a T4 divided turbo that will fit my HKS cast manifold or getting a wastegate welded to the stock manifold. As I mentioned before, I don't want to drop a lot of money on this engine, as I plan on doing another swap in the near future. Thanks for the help guys

Pay to play, those manifolds cost over 1k$ because there's labor, skill, materials, and quality control that go into it. Hell if I had to make a manifold like that I would charge about 1500$ myself due to the fabrication and time that goes into that. |

Sure you might be able to use various steels which would also have better heat transfer properties than stainless but stainless is very tough. There's factors to look into when designing manifolds, you can't just say "use metal and git er dun" you have to take into account, thermal expansion, cyclic loadings, pressure vessels and other stuff. So all in all it's not that easy. |

^ Yup, THAT steampipe. It's a nice manifold, very robust, but I wonder how heavy it is.
S-TEC is a good choice, and I think they make them with T3 flanges, but last I heard, they're OOS of the top mounts. If you went with their top mount, you'd need to modify the wastegate to clear the steering linkage, since the manifolds were designed for RHD. Check out Neukin or AFIturbo. I know AFI was selling theirs for around 1200-1300, like Neukin. |

i did the ss autochrome style. it didnt fit great. had to fab it alittle so the turbo wouldnt hit the valve cover. gt35r. on the dyno we could only do 14lbs it creeped up to 18lbos because the pour design of waste gate tube. other than that its not that bad.

you have more than one option :
A- stock mani with welded WG flange and you will be ok. (KA guys are welding SR mani's to the KA flange and it's ok. B- get a garrett housing to fit on the holest, get one with the WG on the exu housing (check atpturbo.com) C- Weld a brace on the ebay mani and run it like hell, you will face a prob with the WG hitting the steering coulm, but you can cut and re - weld. D- sell the holest, get a T3 GT3076R that will out spool the holest, and get better top end. YOUR call
