it's not that they couldn't install it back then, more like, they messed up installing it and claiming they couldn't.

here's the email i received from Zenesis about what they messed up:

We put it on the test bench and could not find the reason why your installer would have said that the siren would not turn off. We did not face the same situation. No installer would ever use wire nuts for an installation. All things aside, we noticed that many wires from CON8 were actually grounded via a wire nut. This is the reason why Factory Arm and Factory Disarm are not working properly. As the damage is due to faulty installation, our warranty would not apply to the repair or replacement of the unit. Additionally, the damage that was caused is not repairable and thus the reason why we were going to replace the brain.

Again, the parts have been replaced and everything should be brand new, but I haven't even opened to check.
