The previous owner might have recirculated the waterlines. Maybe he wasn't smart enough to buy adapters or the right hoses.

look behind the motor. if the heater hose comes out and then is connected to another hose that goes back the the fire wall then that means the previous owner never hooked up the heater to the motor. just get the right hose and adapter and plum in the heater hose from the fire wall to the motor. |

it's also possible the heater hoses are hooked up backwards from what i've heard, but that doesn't make much sense in my mind.

SR motor set/clip $2500+, FMIC kit $700+, Downpipe $100+, 3" exhaust $500+, Misc install parts $100+, Shop labor for install $1000+ and you still only make 220rwhp for $5000 ![]() so what's so CHEAP about the SR swap again? |

yeah, there are water outlets on the back of the engine and they should go into and out of the firewall on the pass. side. thing is, the stock hoses for the ka or the sr won't work so if you live someplace sunny its easier just to recirculate it.
so check that, check that they are flowing the right way, and if that isn't working it may need a new heater core. |

There is, I'd say, a 99% chance that whoever installed it was just too lazy to buy the heater hoses for the swap, and recirculated the heater hoses from the motor back to the motor, instead of motor-heater-motor. Usually, you'll have to pull the engine to reach the hoses, but under certain (unknown to me) circumstances, you'll be able to do it w/ the motor in the car.
Take a look at your own hoses/motor. They're on the passenger half of the car, right between the firewall and the engine. The hoses are about the diameter of a quarter... maybe a little thinner. What you'll prob. find is that you'll have two holes plugged up in the firewall and two hoses connected from/to the motor. These are what you need to plug into the holes in the firewall. Good luck! |

You can buy the correct hoses from a guy on ebay. Search for sr20det heater hoses, you should be able to find it pretty easily. I paid $30.00, they fit perfectly, worth every dime. I however, pulled my motor back out to install them, if you can do it another way post it here or email me. This is a common problem with the sr swap and the info would be nice to have. Ok, i found them on ebay. So these houses are not reachable without pulling the motor right? Any idea how much a shop would charge to do this because its winter in ohio and my garage has no room. Also can someone explain what you mean by saying recirculate from the motor back to the motor. Is their a walkthrough or anything on this? Sorry im just new with nissans im used to working with hondas which are much easier.

its the same on a honda...
its pretty basic stuff. the water actually has to go through the heater core to heat the heater core. If its going from the motor back to the motor its not. I'm not sure I understand the confusion |

It's pretty straight forward, you go from the motor to the heater core and back into the motor, You really can't screw it up, especially if you have the proper hoses on hand, they don't ike to bend so just line 'em up and slip 'em on. If you bring your car to a shop in Ohio they are going to charge you too much to pull your engine. It's not a hard job, search this forum or just do a google search of the internet and you'll find some detailed instructions. I feel ya about the heat though, I'm in Michigan, it was 5 degrees this morning when I went to work!

So here is a question that's gona blow your mind.. if you can't do it when the motor is in, then how do you do it point? I mean conencting hoses from the firewall to the engine, doesn't that mean that at some point the engine has to be in the car ?

It's not that hard, it's just time consuming. Sud up some dishwashing soap, dip both ends of the hose in it and go at it.
