why do you think they will look like shit single stage? what brand are you referring to for your single stage experience saying it will look like shit?
From my own professional experiences.

Single stages will NEVER look as good as 2 stage, literally.

The ONLY single stage that is really worth a shit is made by Spies Hecker, it still doesn't look as good as base/clear. The reason being is you really can't cut and buff a single stage like you can with a 2 stage, the other problem is you cannot make the single stage lay out as nice as a 2 stage, even with my amazing sata paint guns it just doesnt happen.

Well my neighbor has been painting for over 30 years and does a lot of single stage work, and after a wet sand and buff it looks indistinguishable, and even without it it looks excellent...ya there are multi stage paints that single stage wont come close to, but imo and my paint professional friends oppinion, single stage can look better than factory paint with less effort, or even better than factory...that's all I care about

i find single stage metallics to be really annoying and i dont use them. for straight white or simple colors its fair game but with base/clear available i dont see the point in not doing multi stage. also customers pretty much all want a base/clear system, someone on TV told them thats what they need i guess.

current long-term headache:

considering most manufacturers don't wetsand and buff the paint once its done curing, im sure a professional grade paint job will look better than factory, single stage or not.

Multi-stage is somewhat reserved for higher end cars like lexus and such, luxury cars, i greatly doubt you will be able to achieve an identical, or near, finish with a single stage paint. It just isn't the same
