Tattoo/Piercing Thread

Right arm is sleeved 90%, just need color. It's a Koi on the upper part and then an octopus from the elbow, down. Just found out my tattoo guy/friend is moving 4 hours away to Dallas, TX. :/






I also have my daughter's name on my left wrist and 2 gauge (SOMETIMES "0") plugs in both ears.

the tattoo is from a rare woodcut / horimono I took a picture of. he recreated it pretty much spot on. his other work is just as awesome . . .

Tore both of my ears going to 0gauge like 3 days ago... Blood all over my bathroom sink, and it still kind of hurts. Fuuuu. Been cleaning em every day though with the ear cleaning solution thing from Claire's, and they've gotten a lot better and the swelling went down.

Going from 2 to 0 is so much aggravation. I tore like 3 different times doing it and I let it heal the longest of any stretch I did. Probably 6-7 months or so.

tapers would help make it easier. fresh out the shower makes it easier as well.

Yeah, it's a 2mm jump, compared to a 1mm jump for every other size up...

Idk man, everyone's ears are different. I did it the same as I did for every other time I moved up... But this time I guess my ears just didn't want to stretch.

I wasn't fresh out of the shower I don't think... I don't remember. But I did use tapers. I actually still have just the tapers in, because I haven't had the time to order plugs yet.

I started a sleeve for a buddy of mine De Los Muertos Portrait ...first session...4 hours..still needs a little more work..you can still see the name that was covered in her hair... I didn't do the hinges...Trying out some new ink....it was a little darker than I expected...we'll see if it lightens up a bit after he heals.

yeah its purple (pedals) inside is yellow

dont know what color yet for the other flowers, kinda wanna see how the purple takes to my skin tone though since i hear blue based colors tend to get "muddy" with darker skin tones

what I usually let people know is that skin is like tint. the darker you are...the more "tint" there is. Kinda like looking at something with sun glasses on. If you are going for a specific "purple" color...maybe go a couple shades lighter....I've done a few color tattoos on (no offense to anyone) black people.

And I would have to say if I didn't have such a heavy art background, I don't think it would have come out right. Instead of a dark purple...have him mix a bright blue, and a almost pinkish red....it'll give a heavy light purple.

This was a year or so ago...but it'll give you an idea.


I have also found that INTENZE ink puts down the brightest pigment in case he uses anything else. I'm no expert...nor do I have years of experience...but I have a heavy art background. Hope this helps a little.

seriously, if you tear your ears on that small of a size, then you're doing something wrong. the worst problem i've had was my ears would swell up for a while

The belly and ribs are fine, it hurt most towards the hip and the shower afterward always stings. Its my first tat so I don't know how it would feel compared to any where else on my body.

Everyones ears are different but most people I know personally have had problems going from 2-0. Like the dude who quoted me a couple posts up, as opposed to being 1MM which is normal, going from 2-0 is around 2mm.

You can find 1g tapers online though. Sadly, I had no knowledge of this when I was stretching.

My ears are fine and healthy now @ 9/16 and they have been since 00

The best way to stretch is using plumbers tape with double flare plugs.

everyone's ears may be different, but if you rip your ears, you shouldn't keep plugs in, or keep trying to stretch. if you stretch right, and allow your lobes to fully heal before sizing up, you shouldn't have to deal with tearing.
