It is but depending on where you at will depend if it's enforced. Houston not so much. I've driven my car for a few years now without a front plate and I haven't been stopped for not having one.

And Miggy - Damn dude. I roll on 18's not anywhere near as low and I clip damn near everything on the road. I cant imagine rolling around Houston on 17's..... EEEEK!

Well in Texas, they don't enforce the front license law and you can roll your zenki without it (newer corvettes don't use them) and i dont on my s14. Cops just are dick heads when they pull you over, especially in Arlington tx, especially when the superbowl was here. They gave my brother a ride height citation, and no license plate citation just to be dicks, no other traffic tickets.

not true i live in houston and got pulled over and ticketed twice for no front plate!

It all depends where you are in Texas but the laws are pretty standard.
I just got a ticket for ride height this weekend but he did not give me a ticket for no front plate.

LOL, thats a ridiculous height rule. Here in VA your bumper bar has to be 14" off the ground. Its supposed to be the middle of the bar, but some cops go by the top of it and others the bottom.....either way you can't lower it much and be within those parameters.

True, but then there's the whole "frame cannot come in contact with the ground and wheels cannot contact the body under normal operation" that is required for inspection. I guess it's kind of subjective what is considered "normal operation" though.

Although if the cop is feeling really dick-ish they can pull the whole "altered suspension" crap and it doesn't matter how low or not low your car is. I guess we're just lucky because they tend to notgivafuck unless you're being stupid.

Well its so if you get a flat the body wont come in contact with the ground. And i think here in delaware its center of headlight must not be lower than 19 inches.

We dont have to have a front plate at all, and we have no ride height regulations either. But of course i'm from a town where everyone drives mustangs and lifted trucks. We only have sound regulations if it's after like, 11 o'clock

The ride height law in Illinois is apparently something like 19" from the ground to the middle of the headlight.

And front plate must be mounted at least 5" from the ground.

That's the law, but as long as you have a front plate, cops don't seem to care. And I don't hear of people getting tickets for being too low often. Especially in Chicago where they have more important things to deal with.

My poor little zenki with mismatched panels and randomly sanded areas ready for bondo-ing. Can't wait for the season to start. Gotta relocate my harness and roll my fenders in preparations for my wheels still. I think I'll just ziptie the harness up... Idk, not sure.
