Ok I posted earlier that I had my s13 running it was but wouldnt idle. I cant get the distributor drive rod set where I have enough adjustment to get it to idle. Is there anything special about putting the oil pump/ distributor drive rod in? A freind of mine says that it has to be set in the oil pump a certain way or it wont work right. Is there any truth to this? And if so how should it go in? I cant seem to figure it out. Any help would be realy really appreciatted (I have to get it running tonight for work tommorrow).

HELLP!!

the shaft must be lined up with the oil pump when you slide it in from the bottom. There are 2 little dots on the oil pump and shaft. It is a bit tricky to do because when you insert it, the rod will twist a bit when it goes onto the drive gear. You need to end up with the notch (or cresent/halfmoon type notch) in the 11 oclock position iirc. Get a chilton/haynes/factory manual and it will show you everything you need to know.

edit: this must be done with the engine at tdc

after owning a KA for a long long time, just make sure to do it with the dist off first.

Install the oil pump with the punch marks aligned, install it, THEN install the distributor. You should actually mark the dist cap so you know where it is at TDC piston 1 just to make it easier.. but you dont have to. oh well, having a KA was sure fun.. those days are history.

Thanks guys I have not been able to locate the marks on the oil pump but I will look alot closer knowing that they are there somewhere. The 11 o'clocck hels alot. I tried to get a manual but no ine here in Hicksville bumblefux TN carries one. I am going to try it again this evening and see what happens.

hmmm most people say they can swap in an SR in a day or two...Taking 3 days to get a KA running after doing a timing chain(was the first time I tore into the motor blindly with no manual)???? Should have swapped the KA for the SR I guess. LMAO
