brakes sticking, pedal point rises and falls

I Have a problem with my s14 and figured I would bounce it off everyone to see if anyone had a good second thought. Basically the pedal gets stiff and the engagement point rises to almost the top, growing over the trip. When that happens my brakes start dragging more and more. Eventually they really drag to the point that I wont roll backwards on hills and the car is really clutch heavy off the line just to get going. The pedal itself is not physically sticking at all.

brakes dragged 10 miles one way last night, and got really bad when I started really getting close. On the way home? Brakes were perfectly fine the entire drive even if I used heavy braking or light or whatever.

Months ago the pedal had actually dropped to the floor a few times where I had to pump the brakes to get a good stop.

Booster is one thing I was potentially looking at?
maybe the check valve sticking?
Pressure does not bleed off after shutting down the car it doesn't leak.

I have been thinkin bmc... but I hate blowing that much on one if there is a trick people know. cleanable?

I see bmc rebuild kits for everything but my 95. Anyone ever try to rebuild a 95 with another kit? Any tricks I can use without actually getting a rebuild kit or another bmc? kits are different numbers and parts for different years so I wanna make sure first. thoughts? ideas?

Its weird because of how sporatic it is. I could go a week or 2 with no problems then 1 way trip it gives me hell out of nowhere, no change in driving habit.

The last 3 or 4 times it has done it (more often now that was this morning, last night, and Saturday) it was all rear brake drag. Months ago it was the fronts though.
its happens just out of the blue after a long stretch then its fine so I have been putting off fixing it. Before Saturday it went months without a problem.

I want to kinda hone in on the issue without just going the route of buy n try.

Also does anyone know if s13 bmc has a different pressure split point than s14? s13 bmc's are almost half the cost of s14 ones and from what I can see its the same 15/16 or 7/8 with different line locations. Can I bend my lines for half cost and just run an s13 one with my s14 reservoir with the fluid level sensor.
