9:34 and fail in the same sentance. You bastard.

Nice run time. Hopefully when I test upon my return to Vandyland I can run a sub 10:30

Did a 6 mile run last night. It was easily the best run of 2011. Felt like a boss

I did 6 miles today. 3 miles with my Merrells and 3 miles barefoot. I'm confused alittle bit on this one. I timed myself running 3 miles in my Merrells and I got a 24:58. I took my shoes off, jogged in place for a little until I caught my breathe. I ran again and timed myself barefoot and I clocked a 23:20. How is this possible? I ran the same route. Same distance. Started and finished at the same point. Can someone please explain this one to me?

1.) 17.5 miles
2.) VFF/Merrells/Barefoot
3.) All of my runs are on the road
4.) I'm not digging my Merrells. When I did my 3 mile run barefoot, I got a little blister
5.) 8:30 minus 30 seconds on some parts
6.) overall rating is a 9. I ran 3 miles barefoot and clocked a 23:20. New PR for me and I'm excited about that one. Last week I mainly focused on speed thats why my mileage was low.

No one is doing the Warrior Dash? I think this is the last week to register. I want to do but I got alot of things going down once I get back to Cali. I wish I could, looks fun.

Any events going on in 2 weeks? My wife said there might be a Breast Cancer Run at Fort Irwin which I'm going to do if it does happen.

Misawa, how more days until you get back bro? I take it you guys are packing and prepping for your flight home.

Razor, hows the running coming along?

Wag, where you at?

I'm leaving the FOB that I've been assigned at since October on Thursday. Then I'll be up at Bagram for a few weeks. Hopefully I'll be home by the 16th or so. Less than a month...........WOOT

The less shoe you're lugging around, the faster you can go. Race shoes do the same thing. Less shoe, better time. No shoe? Sometimes fast, but slower if you don't know the course or it's rocky. Only cuz you're being careful!

I'm just starting to get into running.. I'm 17, 5'8", 130-5 pounds and not in track or anything I'm actually playing volleyball right now. I try and run about twice a week which pretty much all I have time for since my practices don't get out until about 6. Right now I can run a 615 mile if I'm trying, and my usual 2 an a half mile run takes about 20-25 minutes depending on what I feel like at any given moment haha. Anyways I run on 4 year old k-mart reebok specials, and most of the time come out cold turkey and don't stretch. I notice after about a mile and a half my knee starts to hurt (I just have bad knees) and shortly after my calves start to tighten up. I was wondering if I could be pointed in the direction of some stretches/running techniques to help make my runs more enjoyable and some shoes that the typical 17 year-old jobless s13 owner can afford. Thanks in advance!

Pacotaco, try researching minimalist/barefoot running. I highly advise you to reasearch it first before doing it. You can cause more injuries if you dont do it properly. The reason for your hurting knees n tight calves could be from heel striking. Dont qoute me on that but I had the same problem you had before. I injured my knee at airborne school and have been fighting the pain for 3 years. This year I finally converted to minimalist/barefoot running and I dont feel that knee pain anymore. I also dont stretch myself. I feel everytime I do stretch I tend to pull muscles. I think you start off with a 5 minute warm up first then run then stretch lightly. I hope this helps you out. Remember if you do take my advice n consider minimalist/barefoot running please do research on it first. Know the running techniques, know how much to do a week, know the injuries if you do too much too soon.
Erik

1.) 13 miles
2.) VFF/Merrells
3.) On road
4.) No real issues, the Injinji socks help with blisters quite a bit but I was still getting them on my big toes after the longer runs lol And my foot cramped up once in my Merrells.
5.) 8:00 average on the longer distances
6.) Overall rating is a 9, My merrells are helping with the blisters so I've been subbing them for the vibrams until my other sets of socks come in. I can feel my speed getting faster and my legs aren't nearly as sore as normal. Had an awesome run monday where I was almost at a full blown sprint at the end of my run and still felt like I could go faster.

xsidewayzx the running is coming along great, I no longer have hip pain after my runs, I'm not very sore either, I'm changing my diet up a bit as well because I've gained some weight from when i was in full running shape(was 135 back then, now at 155 some added muscle/some fat lol) Overall though I really enjoy this thread, it helps when you know others are looking forward to your weekly report, so until I get back in my old mindset about running all day everyday and I'm addicted to endorphines again this is my escape lol. Those are some good run times on the 1.5 mile timed runs, my last prt I ran a 9:20 which I was decently happy about, I intend to beat my best time though after I'm in great shape again of 8:18 so hopefully I'll be up to it.

I was referring to the run times they were discussing earlier regarding their PT tests.

running is cool but now it hurts. lol! more people should start running or some type of physical activity funny how people complain about being fat and do nothing about it my personal beleif any thing physical will make anyone loose weight if you do it daily and especially if you never really do anything at all. diet plays a lot but only so much if people start running it will help and is healthy for everyone. zilvia should have a marathon winner gets a skyline r34! LOL! how cool would that be?

Yeah, I'm definitely trying to do it more again, I used to be addicted to it, like literally addicted lol If I didn't get my daily run in I'd feel like I missed out; I want that mindset back because ever since I got married it seems like I lost that.

Whoa! Marriage doesn't have to do with anything LOL. Just let the wifey know you have to run everyday. I know what you mean on getting addicted to running. I'm at that point now. There will be times where I don't want to run and just take a nap but I end up going after the nap. Then after the run I feel way better and glad that I did go run.

So I ended up with a blister today in the most random spot too. Right on the side of my left foot. Opposite side of the arch. It could be my VFF rubbing on it.

My times were 6-6:20 about a year ago. This past month when i started did around the same and as of right now im at 4:53. I've been running almost about 4 days out of the week doing 3-4 miles per day. Im looking to do 4 minutes within this next 2 weeks. Oh im 5"10 and weight about 168 if that matters

I've been running for an average of about 25-30 miles per week for the last month and a half. Since September I've lost 29 lbs. Kinda addicted to running now after seeing these results

Looking to do a 4 minute mile? Like... 4 minutes flat? Don't mean to call you out, but that would not only be a world record, but it would shatter everything else out there. Not saying it can't be done, but I am saying I highly doubt it will happen any time soon.

In any case, I'm all set to go out again. And start a new week.

1.) 11 miles
2.) MT10's, 1080's
3.) Mostly trail, some road
4.) I've been having some calf pain because I'm starting off too fast on the downhills, and it's tightening my arch, which makes me have to stop and stretch, slowing me down.
5.) About 10 minute mile pace, the big sloppy mud and twisty trails slow me down a bit.
6.) I'd rate this past week at around a 7. The calf/arch pain has been RUINING my mojo on the runs, and totally throws off my tempo, but otherwise, it's been enjoyable. I haven't tracked my running in a long time, and so it's fun to try to keep track a bit more. I've been using the Nike+ setup, which makes things more fun, too. It's fairly accurate... My girl and I went for a short 4 miler Monday and her garmin clocked us only like .04 miles ahead of my Nike+ GPS app. Not shabby!

That'd be one hell of a soccer team to do at least a 6:30 mile the entire time. BTW wag I got the socks dude, thanks so much

Yeah, the Nike+ setup. I have the Sportband, but haven't run with that (the sensor deal), but those are supposed to be like 90% accurate out of the box, and you can sync it on a track to your stride. I personally have been using the Nike+ GPS app on the iPhone. Like I said, comparing to my girlfriend on her Garmin, it was .02 miles off, which I'd take compared to a $300+ watch.

Right on! Glad they got there and worked out okay. If you guys ever need anything related to running (aside from VFF's!!), hit me up! I get a discount on everything in the store, and would be happy to pass it along to you guys. Water bottles, track spikes, socks, shoes, clothes, watches, etc.
