I've heard this before, supposedly the F35 is to replace it, but I really don't see this happening. Speed isn't the purpose of the A-10, its close air support, and very few aircraft still do it with the effectiveness, range and duration that an A-10 can do it and in many different variations. I really don't see them being retired especially since the AF has spent so much getting all the operational A-10's converted to C-Models. I can guarantee you the big A-10 bases are not showing any signs of slowing down, I think I remember hearing some ridiculous that A-10's will still be in the fight until 2030-2040.

Army has already said if the AF drops the A10, the Army is going to pick it up....Since the AF doesn't want to lose manning......You see where this is going!
