I've never driven an S14, but I really like the looks of the later S14 nose. The ones with the really agressive looking headlights.
I _HATE_ S13 seats. I'd take the vinyl seats in my 325e over the S13's any day. Until I drive an S14 I'll have vote for the S13... |

Fastback. I love every style of the 240SX, it's just that I don't like trunks as much as the open hatch area. I've never had a car that had a trunk, come to think about it. hmm.

S14....why? well for one it has a much more solid chassis which responds better to suspension mods. it also has revised rear suspension design for better fine tuning. and then theres the wider track and longer wheelbase for better hi-speed stability and what not. the whole car overall is much more refined than the S13 (not to say the S13 is bad). nicer interior, IMO better looks on the outside, but that's always an arguable point. plus you can fit wider wheels under the stock fenders. S14's are the man!
PS: oh and as for the S14 being 300 lbs heavier, HAH!! the weight difference is a good deal under 100 lbs between the S13 fastback SE and the S14 coupe SE IIRC.

on performance, id say the s14 is better for turning, and response, but the s13 can be modified to be just as good, kinda like how a lancer is turned into an evo with chassis reinforcements, its costly, but saying that it can be done. for straight line performance, i would say s13, cause its lighter. on looks, i would say s13, i like the s14, but its rear lights, and the rear fenders are ugly enough that i chose the s13. the s13 has better overall looks, while the front of the s14 kouki(mean eyes) front looks better than the s13. now the rear fenders of the s14, its just too narrow, it looks flat if you see if from the front angle, yea you can always modify it with fender kits, but i dont like doin that to cars. so overall the s13 gets my vote.

s13 all the way. only certain s14 looks nice. the 95-96 models looks down syndromed.

to me...the S14 doesn't look anything special...and its a little porkier, and the S13 has more power I thought? hmm...lighter,more power and hatchback, and looks hella cooler? The answer to me is pretty apparent.

I have heard of the S14s improvements over the S13, but I just love the Kouki tailights on my S13, and the fastback has and always will be one of the sexiest production cars ever made! ...chassis stiffness? nothing some seam welding, and a roll cage won't help.

I think with S13 hatchback, you can carry more grocery or tires for drifters. S14 has small trunk which kinda sucks at times. Looks wise, I think 97-98 S14 is the best. Plus they are more rare than S13s. Performance wise, S14 does handle a bit better cause it is wider. "wider is better!" Plus it is newer so suspension is set up better. Well, that's my opion.

I prefer the S14, because it has a sexy appeal to it when done right. I also prefer the styling of the coupe (S14) more than the fastback (S13).

ok driven both, S14 though it may not be much heavier, feels and drives like it is bigger and heavier, in comparison to the S13 Fastback. That out of the way the S14 is much quiter due to being comfort level refined by Nissan. For comfort and boulevard cruising the S14 is superior . In terms of sports car feel and look the S13 Fastback rules!!! Yes the S14 has a stiffer chassis. as far as earlier posts about it having a more refined suspension, hahahhahaha. Whoever said that needs to look at the rear subframe design of the S14 its identical to the S13 in basic layout as it is identical to the z32 rear subframe design and the J30 subframe design. Guys, Nissan did not refine the subframe design between any of these models. ITs the same multilink suspension. The only thing Nissan refined in the S14 was the chassis stiffness.
The S14 has a stiffer chassis but its stock suspension is tuned softer than the S13's hence more of wallowy big feel like a mustang or american car. The only way to make a S14 (IMHO) rock is to immediatly upgrade the suspension to get rid of that wallowy american car feel. even after you do that the car still feels bigger than a S13 Fastback or coupe IMHO! Yes I cast my vote for the S13 Fastback, I don't hate the S14 but its not my cup of tea.

I own both Love my S14 nothing cruises like it does but it has a weird mustang like feel to it. When I get in my S13's they feel more like a little sports car They scream to be dogged. I voted S13 but in truth I would vote S13 for raging around in and S14 for cruising and being noticed. IMO

for looks, i HATE the rear lights of the s14, that f**king bar. the s14 roundish headlights don't do it for me. the s13 definitely feels lighter and more sporty, i think that the japanese would agree, as the s13 wasn't discontinued when the s14 was introduced. in the mid-90's nissan took the s14 and r33 and revised them, and look how much people reacted negatively to it, that's why the s15 is smaller than the s14 was. and just look at how the aftermarket reacted to the s14, how many of the big tuner companies went with s14 instead of staying with s13? not many!

An s-14 having been my first car, I'm kinda biased. But don't get me wrong, I love my hatchback, but come on, let's face it. Only one of them will fit two people in the "trunk" w/o out the average passerby seein somethin they really aughta not see.
