I can give you some tips. Some I learned the hard way. 1. Drain everything 2. make sure everything is absolutly disconnected before you try and hoist. Other than that it is easy. Good Luck

if you search google youll probably find something. make sure to take out your power steering lines, if youre taking the tranny and engine out together. If the tranny catches them youll be looking for new ones. Drain all the fluids like said above, and its easier if you take out the radiator and fan. (more room)

If you dont know where all the harness plugs go label them.

When you re-install make sure you have the mounts already attached to the motor, so you just have to slide the studs into the chassis.

Pull out the trans and engine together, much easier and a lot less time consuming.

Dont lose shit, keep your workspace clean and organizied.

And Zilvia's search not working is a terrible excuse. Ever heard of google? There are 284703247 step-by-step threads on like 4 different forums on how to remove engines.

check out some build-up threads becuase they often times have lots of photos while theyre removing the engine. you can look at their examples and try to deduce something from it.

just take your time and make sure all wires/lines are disconnected.

remove intake and all that junk first. then all the wiring and lines. then remove radiator so you dont damage it/have more room to work with. and just make sure all your fluids are drained. then go rent / barrow an engine hoist and remove that sucker. its not very hard at all.
Helps to have a buddy or two to help guide the engine and tranny out of the car.

Last I checked, they had a pretty decent writeup on ka removal.

By using that, and some common sense you should be golden.

+1 on the power steering lines... i found out s13 lines work on an s14 though the only thing i can add to this is take your time, if your doing an sr20 make sure you do your heater core lines before the motor is bolted in... much much easier.

Recently, I found a new magazine in a bookstore (books a million) called "Project Car" that has all the steps to take out the KA and put in the SR. It was a quarterly magazine so it should still be for sale.

don't bother discharging the a/c
just unbolt the compressor and tie it up on the side

you don't have to take off the p/s lines if you're careful about it. the nuts on the p/s lines are easy to strip. if you do take them off, be careful.

ya, heres your how to for bumping a 4 year old thread.

Step 1: Google search - engine swap ka24de

Step 2: Cut front end off car just in front of fire wall (biggest saw you can find)

Step 3: cut front end off donor car (same place)

Step 4: mix paper mache (secret tip add super glue for stronger bond)

Step 5: paste new front on old rear, using plenty of paper mache that you just mixed

seriously dude, its not rocket science to pull a motor. And if you cant figure it out on your own, then you probably shouldnt be doing it. Good luck getting spoon fed through out life tho.

I was really looking for a how to or one of those write up threads that I know exist on stuff like this. Thats all really.

I have: an idea of how to remove an engine, my dad whos done it on older cars, and some beast co-workers with forties that will help, but never did it myself. Wanted to read as much as I can first.

Kinda unnecessary.

I know this isnt your exact situation but maybe it will help you find something you are looking for....

Use containers to keep bolts in, label plugs, drain fluids, pull at the motor as a set.

Oh, and pay attention to what you're doing.

You can have that thing out and re installed with one extra set of hands in like 2-3 hours. 240 is the easiest car to work on and some what cheap. But it's a cheap money pit.
