I'm mostly on bimmerforums or m3forums since I'm big into e36 and e46m3s. But I came across this thread and I feel like I can relate to most everyone on this thread.

In the typical M3 community, it has gotten to the point where ultra low offset expensive rims is now teh hotness, and it is considered legitimite to use the word "build" when discussing the progress you've made fitting the wrong wheels on your car. As in "yo, check out my build, I'm running et10 wheels with a 20mm spacer and -5deg camber".

Stanceworks was started on bimmerforums by a pretty creative guy, but its gotten out of hand. Now everyone wants to mimic this stuff, which was an offshoot from the VW crowd, which I think originated in Europe.

Point is, anything where you have to be a follower and completely copy a scene is weak. Not to mention, making choices of form> function on performance cars is also weak. Don't people get embarrassed being poseurs?

Back in 2008 I bought an EG Civic with a GSR motor as a back up track car. It was ugly and had a dented fender and hood I replaced with an OEM unpainted fender and hood because I didn't feel like spending the money. But after a few months, they started to rust....



So then I went and trolled the bfc home of Stance:Nation hoping to get a new rusted trend to catch on.

I think rice is someone who didn't really grow up around cars and recently ventured into them.. They don't have a good idea of what a good car is, hence they will build up some shitbox.

I think rice is something you add to your car to make it look like you need it when you really don't.

Like a wing. If you are tracking/timetrialing and you need to run aero...not rice.
If you have a big wing and you don't need it....rice.

If your modification is for function...not rice.
If it is meant for function but you use it for looks....rice.

I have to admit when i was getting into cars about 4 years ago and got my first car... the first thing i was looking at was a veilside kit for the supra and then with veilside wing, and i wanted to do alotta stupid shit to it but my instinct said just wait. and 4 years later im all about stock aero and just power and handling.. i think the only after market body part ill ever have on that car besides the stock style cf hood is a cf hatch lip just to flow better. but thats basically it.

Im sorry, but there is nothing rice about this car.
Its a rocket bunny wing and it looks pretty cool on a hatch with those matched rims.
gives it a more old school feel, instead of the modern big rim tucking shit every follower is doing now.

Clear tails on lighter cars is the best way to go, otherwise the red and orange shit looks like a eyesore and is distracting. Its been acceptable for a few years now.
Dont get caught in the past, or your gonna end up rice too....

Its actually a rocket bunny wing, and i felt it kinda had a wangan wing style. The matched rims ONLY work on the white car and i thought the 76 sticker kind of helped with the oldschool.

The knotched vent thing in the skirt sucks and the bumper does need to be adjusted.
