if i got 50mm rear over fenders on a S13 coupe, i SHOULD be able to fit these on with a 315 tire correct?
Stay away from 16s unless you're only going to run them with slicks. Otherwise the widest street tire made is a 265 Kumho XS that are about $180 ea. And that would be way too much stretch with a 265 on a 13" wide wheel

-How much strut clearance do you have with then18x12 and 6.75" backspace in front? I pressume you're running at least a 0.5" spacer?

Thanx a million! I've got to get out to the Meadowlands to watch the Panda some day!
I haven't run with the 315's up front yet, as it'll take some questionable "massaging" to fit them with enough clearance to actually steer. I've heard that the top RX-7's have done the same clearancing, though (fender seam on the door-side of the wheel well).

With the current setup of 285/30R18's up front, I've got a decent amount of bump travel in order to stay off the frame rails, which would cause wheel lockups under heavy (1.2g) braking.

Strut clearance is tight, but I'm not running a spacer with the strut housings that I currently have on the car (early prototype Deviant housings). I believe the newer version housings have more clearance, so it may be possible to run more backspacing/ offset.

I think I might be at Meadowlands after Nats, but most likely not before.

With that kind of ground clearence, what kind of corrective work have you done to the suspension geometry?

My new autocross setup, they're Hoosier A6s so they're going to be wider than your average street tire.... It's not as staggered as you would think because the 225 hoosiers are really wide... The front pokes a bit but has no room to go strut side. Hopefully just a roll but might need a little pull too. As for the rear, I'd have to look closer, but it appears the rears have both a tad of front space and back space so maybe a 295/35/17 A6 in the future?? And it might not even need a roll, but I'll go ahead and do that. And yes I need wider rims but they're both within specs of the tires. Will go wider down the road.

Rear 275/45/16 16x8.5 +37 (equivalent to ~285/295 street tire...)
Front 225/50/16 16x7.5 +22 (equivalent to ~255/275 street tire...)

Put more preload on the front springs for a track day so the front is kinda 4x4 status here. Fixed now.

just bought my car and it has

vs-kf's
f 18x9 +13 215/35/18 dz 101's
r 5mm spacer (i think) on18x10 +0 225/40/18 dz 101's

and i want to put some real tires on it, so i was thinking 275/35/18 on back and 235/40/18 on front, i know these offsets suck but....also its a '98 s14 with 12mm fenders in front and rolled and extremely pulled fenders in back

Instead of being a scrub, why don't you calculate and post your proposed backspace, and then we can talk.

MAX backspace Rear~ 172-179mm (you can usually add 0.5" to this)

7in backspace = 177.8 mm

Pushin it to perfection!

Why not? I'm planning to have my XXR 527's widened from 9.75" to 11" so I can comfortably run a 315mm tire in the back of my coupe.

The money you spent buying the wheels and then widening them could have gotten you a decent set of wide wheels.

used rotas ($300) have a friend widen wheels, idk 200? lets say total 600 for some odd costs. 600 is still cheaper than wide wheels available, considering he's going to get x12.

Weldcraft racing in Michigan does wheel widening for $150 Each wheel. to get 2 wheels widened is only $300. not a bad idea.

295/35/18. 18x10 +25, had to roll fenders, slight pull, and raised the back a tad cause it squats on the stance coilovers pretty hard at 25 pounds.

Is that what you meant to say?

It has its pros and cons. There's more weight from the bigger wheel, but You can't rotate the wheels just like with a traditional staggered setup. Tires often have better control and more precise feel on a wider wheel (to an extent). So a narrower tire on the same size wheel up front will improve control, and in the rear you can run a wider tire for more grip. Some may do it for fender clearance reasons as well. I'd go with a square setup to maximize front grip and simplify the whole getup.

Alright the wheels I want come n+ 12 or+ 22 i want to run a 275 out back and idc if i have to roll the fenders. but i cant find pics of anyone with 265 or 275 on a 9.5 wheel with +12 or +22 or even close to it...on the front ide like to run 18x9.5 +12 with a 255 or 265 and cant find that either. im not into the stretchin stuff so i think this is the right thread....
