Went to a 'Saison' afternoon at Union Jack's Inn on the Manatawny (Oley PA)...an excellent middle of nowhere beer bar that I really enjoy.

Some of what I had/remember

Voodoo - Bitchin Camaro C This beer was a hot mess. Flavor was of warm honey and some random spices. Yuck.

Sampler/Flight tastes:
Stillwater/Brewers Art Debutante B- Drinkable, just oxidized tasting, which is odd
Sly Fox/De Proef - Broederlijke Liefde B
Stillwater Cellar Door A- I liked this one, but it was very saisony to me. Little boozy/sweet, but it was nice. Unsure what you could call it.
Stillwater Stateside A- Consider this a dry version of Cellar Door. Pretty good

And my two favorites of the day:
Lost Abbey - Carnavale A 100% better than bottles, very ncie and easy to drink. Some may not consider this a traditional saison but who cares it was nice, orangy and good.

Allagash/ De Proef - Les Duex Brasseurs A Man this one rocked. Some bretty taste, atop a ton of fruit. Again not very Saison but it was damn good. Nice crisp ending to this as well!

I think a point that needs to be brought up for noobs especially is the glass you drink out of. I am a big wine drinker so of course I know glasses well, but recently had my first boston loger that I actually enjoyed. In a bottle I found it terrible, on draft in a pastic cup, terrible, on thap in a boston loger made glass AWESOME! The way a drink breathes, especially alcohol makes the drink taste much better. Some beer just taste better in different glasses or can/bottles so please choose wisely.

Without a doubt, which is why I've kinda pick when it comes to 'sample/flight' glasses...i hate when they are oversized shot glasses!

Don't forget when you drink beer out of a glass it tastes best when that glass is cold. I get my beer glasses wet then put them in the freezer, that way they are nice and frosty when I pour myself a beer.

If you live in the US then the only place you can buy this is at bevmo and I think its $7 a 6 pack
Tried this when I went to new Zealand a few years back and fell in love with it

That's actually not a good idea at all. Keep beer glasses clean, and at room temperature.

I completely agree. I hate it when people freeze their glasses, even worse when they put their beer in the freezer and take it out just before it freezes. Glasses are the best thing for good beers. I like to be able to see my beer, the color, the foam, the residue left on the sides of the glass... I actually have a pretty large collection of beer glasses (pints, 22's, mugs, tasters...)

Beers I've had that are much better "cool" or closer to room temperature:
Dogfish Head Fort
Dogfish Head 120 IPA
Dogfish Head Pangaea
Arrogant Bastard Ale
La Fin Du Monde (although even better nice and cold from a tap)
Stone IPA

I always either drink out of my Hoegaarden glass or my brandy snifter.

By the way, not too sure if there's any Florida natives in this thread (no I haven't bothered to look) but has anyone been to Cock N' Bull in Sarasota, Florida? I hear it's one of the top 5 beer bars in the country. I'll surely be hitting that up one of these days when I've got about 100$ to spend on beer. I'm dying to try the Westverlen (spelling?) quad.

I really need to start checking this thread more often and posting up what I drink, as I'm always looking for something new to try.

I'm my fridge right now I have Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre and Theobroma along with this Samuel Smith Tadcaster which I have yet to try.

Edit: Just picked up a 4-pack of Old Rasputin (which I love) and 2 bottles of Ayinger, one is the Weizenbock and the other is the Oktober Fest-Marzen. Their Doppelbock is one of my favorite beers so I thought I'd give these a try.

yessir, right down the block. They also have the Alpha King off the engine Cask (or did rather)

Essentially a cask ale (no added nitrogen or CO2), the Cask Alpha King is amazing, drink as much as you want and no CO2 to fill you up. So smooth, the lack of carbonation really lets you appreciate the flavors more.

Soon enough, Behemoth will be out too...

Dogfish Punking - B - Pumpkin Puree isn't my favorite, but its' drinkable.

Riverhorse Pumpkin - B- -Weaksauce. Watery, taste like pumpkin roots.

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin - A - My freakin favorite. Good spices, nice pumpkin taste, and 8% ABV. Do it up!

I am surprise that I haven't had any pumpkin beers yet ! When I tried to have it, it's always after the season.

This year I will try both Dog fish Pumpkin and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumkin for sure..

BTW Cody, Does Wyerbacher one taste much "Imperial~ish" at all?

I tried a few pumpkin beers last year and of the ones I tried I thought that ST Pumking was the best. DFH Punkin Ale is also great.

I live in the state dogfish head is from, and i went into a fairly good sized liquor store yesterday and they didnt have dogfish pumpkin!!! WTF? so i got a sixer of blue moon pumpkin. apparently Yuengling has a oktober fest/pumpkin ale out this year.

Blue Moon Pumpkin - C- not really pumpkin'y more just a normal blue moon with a light hint of spices
Sam Adams Pumpkin - B+ More like the dogfish head, but i think it only comes in the variety pack

For some reason Dogfish and Weyerbacher are out super early this year, namely to keep up with demand. I personally would rather have had them come out later, but if it enables them to have more of the winter stouts, so be it

It's a little over the top in total flavor, but I like that in a pumpkin beer. Slightly boozy, but it doesn't come off as 'too hot'...you can crank a few of them down without realizing it (which is good or bad)

You should try Sessions, its an Oregon lager thats has the same bottle (actually if you were illiterate you could mistake the two VERY easily, haha) and is much better in my opinion.
I did have a pumpkin beer a few weeks ago, but I dont remember what brewery, I dont really remember how it was because my girl drank most of it, lol. Ill have to hit up the 'Stein and pick some soon!

Heres about half of my collection of Rogue bottles just for shits and giggles
