s13 whining sound as a accelarate

1989 s13 hatch red top sr20det

yester day my car started making a whining sound ONLY druing accel. when clutch is in or in neutral it makes no noise even if i rev. but when im in gear the noise gets higher pitched as my rpm's ramp up. i have done some researche but just wanted to get a seccond openion on what this might me... through out bearing? input/output shaft bearing? cluthc? low oil? im gonna drain and change my fluid sometime this coming week

it happens the loundest around 2k-3k rpm... my friend who is a tech said its possible to be the throw out bearing...does that sound like it?

throw out bearing is only engaged when the clutch is disengaged. Bad TO bearings start making noises when the clutch is disengaged. never heard of one making a "whining sound as a accelerate."

if the noise occurs during acceleration it may be a gearing thing. whether it be trans or diff. had a bad diff one time that whined on decel. hope it helps.

first things first, do a good PMCS. fluids, belts, etc.. cheapest thing first.

thx ch187... i'll try to do diff fluid first. dounbt its my tranny.... i hear it form the back of the car...at first i thought it was my rear bearings but its not them... it probably is my diff

Could be diff or a bearing on the transmission somewhere.

i think it is the supercharger lmfo...
thx guys... i found my problem....i changed my diff fluid today and it was pretty bad... one year old fluid but there was LOTS of metal shaving on the magntic plug... upon further inspection found out that my diff is busted... >.<
