is styrofoam needed for silvia bumper install?

I'm just wounderin if the styrofoam is needed when installin the bumper and support on a silvia front? (S13)thanx

No, just there to make the urathane bumper cover feel more solid and not flex or fold as much. You are ok without it.

I would think you would want some in there like at the corners of the bumper so you don't have alot of flex and you can maintain some rigidity to the front fasica ....BUT thats just me......cut in the center then mount what you can ....just like you would do if you were making room for a front mount intercooler

it helps the flexing a bit, but what it actually is is energy absorbing foam. it absorbs the impact a lot. it isn't nescessary but its a safety thing. kind of like not running the steel bumper under the bumper cover. its really up to you. I have neither the steel bumper nor the foam. I haven't seen any excess cracking of the paint or anything from not having the foam.
