the next wave of rice. Every other year, a new taillight comes out that is trendier than the next. First it was all clears, then altezzas, then carbon altezzas, now leds... instead of getting more horsepower out of a part, through evolution of that part, they see if they can make lights any uglier. I shall dub them "the light tuners!"
"Dam fool, you can't be a true light tuner without the new led tailights, and I see your car doesn't have any neons, you're just a poseur!"

As long as they look like the stock tail light I don’t have any problem, in a matter fact they will compliment my HID headlight. Since they are brighter then stock they could be used for a safety.

those are leaps and bounds better looking than altezzas. i wouldn't mind some tails with the large LED's like the G35 uses, just under a full red lens so each individual LED isn't visible when turned off.

the problem is the recipe, my friends.
in the automotive aftermarket, you simply cannot combine: - large quantity (mass production) - low cost - high quality - fitment / OEM replacement when you try to do that, SOMETHING has gotta give. with aftermarket lights, look at the fitment.. why is it they never fit the same? why is it the plastic is never as good as the OEM plastic? the plastic is always thinner material and easy to warp when heated. if the lamp is chrome, why is the chrome-job horrible and easy to flake? if painted, why does it look quickly sprayed and cheaply painted. why is it that the bulb holders never fit snug and the connectors dont even have seals to prevent them from corroding? with signals that use incandescent bulbs, look at how loosely the bulbs twist on -- weak connection to the bulbs is the number one reason i hear people having issues like "quick signals" because the flasher unit thinks the bulb is out. with aftermarket headlamps, how come the headlamps dont have a proper beam pattern and why is it that the HEADLAMPS use FOGLAMP BULBS? Apparently, most of these companies fail to calculate these things.. who knows, its quite obvious they dont even engineer a lot of these products. Now we're talking LED. LED requires quite a lot of circuitry to operate properly and of course, what quality of LEDs are being used? The funny thing that cought my attention is that one page listed the product and said "36 replaceable LED bulbs" -- hmm.. thats like saying your ROTARY MOTOR has UPGRADED PISTONS. HUH? LED = Light Emitting Diode BULB = Filament HID = Arc Capsule Apparently, these companies focus more on mimicing and less on engineering. Anyway, just felt like sharing some insight. While I am sure these "look-like G35-styled amps" the reality is, there is NO WAY they will even come close to being as visible and distinctive as the higher quality G35 OEM tail lamps. ps: I personally dont even like the G35 lamps, I think seeing the naked LED is quite ugly and annoying (excessively bright and bothers my eyes). This is why all the LEDs I work with are diffused, helps reduce the eye strain. But, I guess you need to sell whats trendy. Good luck everyone! - Mike / ClearCorners.Com |

theres no accounting for personal tastes, i dig gullwing/lambo doors when done right altezzas will always be a rip off a toyota, so successful that car makers are putting em in all kinds of cars now, from shitsubishis to mazdas, etc neons will always be lame imo and all those cars @ TAS will gullwing doors and s15 altezza style tails, will blow the doors off most rides, prolly half the reason they got em if i had a 450hp s15 id throw a big old type r sticker on the back ![]() |

it really depends what you consider DONE RIGHT. Most of the stuff you see in japan, even if its not "perfect" its a WORLD better than the stuff you see being done on cars at car shows out here. there is a reason hot import NIGHTS exists, because at night its harder to see just show crappy a lot of these cars really are.
i mean, the first step in being able to criticize a door is understanding the difference between gullwing-style and scissor-styled. instead, people just give things trendy names like "lambo-doors" and think its cool. Last I checked, a lamborghini's door didnt swing out and THEN upwards. People just need to call things what they really are.. if you see a hood, dont call it a carbon fiber hood until you look at the bottom to see if its real carbon fiber. since when does LAMINATE mean true-carbon fiber? no wonder Ikea is profiting so well, people just dont know better.. OAK LAMINATE.. HAHAHAHA |
